I have always been very particular about textures in clothing and, as I intended for this shirt to be a base layer, I was thrilled that this fabric is comfortable. Reviews for similar products claim that the fabric was itchy, so I steered clear of them. The negative reviews for this product seem to be that it fits tight around the chest/underarms and that the fabric is heavy. I expected the fit to be based on the lack of stretch in the material as well as the style and cut of the shirt. A third the cost of similar products? I figured I'd try it.Please note, this fabric doesn't have much stretch if any and it seems due to the cut and fabric as I expected. I have more underarm clearance in the sleeves on this than I have in most of my regular t-shirts, but it doesn't like to bend and follow my body as a poly blend might. I wanted a sturdy fabric that could take some blows and scuffs so I'm quite pleased that the fabric is thicker. I would compare it to denim but at about half the weight and firmness. If you're looking for something lightweight in the same style then I recommend a cotton poly blend typically referred to as linen or gauze. All cotton ones are hard to find, the poly doesn't make any aesthetic difference, and poly blends allow the garment to stretch.

So far, this shirt seems great. thick linen, no flaws that i can tell so far, minus some wild threads here and there (not an issue). I bought a size bigger than I thought id need, for comfort fit. I bought a large. I'm 6ft 42in chest and a large has more than enough room, while still looking good. (bought for a pirate Ren Fest costume.) A large hangs low enough from the waist for a belted tunic style look for my size. if you are similar in chest size a medium would probably give you a more slim fit look and probably still have a similar length. (might shrink in wash *DON'T DRY* in dryer, I havent washed mine yet, but if its anything like other linen... DON'T put in dryer unless its just tumble dry)

Fits as expected because I ordered an XL instead of the M or L I would usually wear. I'm 6' 185 lbs and the XL fits okay, although I wouldn't mind if it were just a little bit larger. Sleeves are just the right length but I wish they were a bit looser. They are not snug around my arms but I can just barely roll them up to just above my elbows, but no further than that. I will never put this shirt in the dryer!Build quality is excellent and the material is just what I wanted: not too heavy, not too thin, nice muslin, nice feel, not itchy or rough at all...

I bought this shirt to wear to the Renaissance Festival here in Texas for pirate weekend. The shirt is 100% cotton, light and comfortable, and after reading the reviews to check for sizing, fit my 6' 205 lb frame perfectly. Quality seems good, especially for the price. I've washed it twice and hung it up to dry because I'm worried it would shrink too much in the dryer. Overall I'm highly satisfied.

After buying this for a costume, and wearing it infrequently (but washing it after every wearing), the issue really reared it's head after the fifth wash, when one of the buttons fell off. After the sixth, a different button fell off, and I am pretty sure that after I wash it the next time, the last button will fall off.

Finally, a muslin cotton shirt that I can afford to wear every day in our boy scout backcountry mountain man program! Not 'exactly a mountain man shirt, but 95% authentic enough to pass! I machine washed in a front loader, then hung to dry in sun with no shrinkage or change in fit. I guess that it could be ironed to get out all of the wrinkles, but that's what makes it even more of a mountain man shirt! Completely satisfied and have ordered five more!

Love the material, looks like what you may think material from the renaissance would be. It is sewn well, has room to move.

Read the reviews and ordered the XXXL for proper fit. Material and fit were just fine, hand washed in cold water and hung to dry. Shrinkage was minimal. Upon putting on, fit was still as expected, but the right arm seam had come loose. Right at about elbow is where it started. looking further appears it will loosen all the way to the armpit. To bad I really like the style and design.
