This was a text book for a Medieval Europe course. It was accompanied by Rosenwein's Reading the Middle Ages as well. Both proved to give me a good general picture of the time period and Rosenwein delivers a balanced approach to allow the reader to see what the time period really showcased. This time period was anything but dark and sleepy and the tumultuous events are what made the Renaissance possible.

Great purchase!
Came fast and in great condition, not to mention the book itself is well written and a fantastic source!

Poor text, mediocre content structure.
My 2-star review is comprised of one star for the lack of cohesion and structure of its content. It reads as if random paragraphs were haphazardly ordered by chapter. The worst way to have a history/anthropology book is to have what boils down to a hodgepodge gathering of encyclopedia entries with only chronological order. The second star is for the companion website from which the professor lazily copy/pasted short essay and multiple choice questions used for quizzes and tests.

I highly recommend it.
A pleasure to read. I didn't want to put it down. The arrangement of the material was helpful to see the connections between events and movements. I highly recommend it.

The amazon book doesn't have page numbers! So it's really difficult to navigate especially when you are assigned certain page numbers to read for school. I suggest getting the physical copy.

My knowledge of history isn't the greatest but this book made it quite easy to learn a lot. It was easy to follow along and quite honestly better than any course or any other book out there.

Amazon why would you market an academic textbook without page numbers? Now instead of looking for a page range I am either forced to read the entire book or buy a new version to compensate for the lack of page numbers! All you have done is taken 23 bucks from a student who needed a reliable text!

The book is falling apart
My complain is not about the content of the book, but the state the book is in. Pages are just falling out of it while I'm reading. I'm handling the book with care, so I know it's not my fault. I don't know what to do about it, but I'm not happy with this situation.
