Best thing ever created.
If I could rate this item 10 stars, I most certainly would. An older pool w/1 skimmer basket and I use a Kreepy “knockoff”; which uses the only suction from my skimmer. Before this item, I could only vacuum the pool with my cleaner, but this device ADDS the ability to have a “floating skimmer” to your pool.10 mins of run time and the surface of my pool is debris free.Going on 2+ years and it is maintenance free.Highly, HIGHLY recommend!!

Simple, Well-Made, and Effective
This is a great device to provide strong, effective skimming of an inground swimming pool. I live in Southern Florida and in the Spring, after a strong rain, the surface of our backyard pool will be covered with thousands of small flying insects (gnats?). Almost all of them float on the surface, so they don't go through the floor drain. I can spend a good hour with the skim net, slowly walking back and forth scooping up these bugs, and even then there will be lots I missed. The pool skimmers built into the sides of the pool don't generate enough water movement to cause the floating bugs to enter the skimmer and get sucked into the filter.I reviewed available add-on skimmers and selected the SkimmerMotion as being the best candidate. It's a simple design and doesn't require modification to my pool or pump system. And the reviews led me to believe this might work for me. In addition, this product is labeled as Made in the USA, and that carries a lot of weight in my decision-making process. The device comes packed well, in a sturdy box that stood up to the USPS system. The floating head unit is well-made of thick durable plastic. The quality of the design and manufacturing is evident; it's a substantial unit that should hold up to years of use. A corrugated white plastic tube connects to the underside of the head unit. The tube has a T-joint at the other end which connects to your pool cleaning robot. I have a Pentair Kreepy Krawly Great White which has a socket for connecting the cleaning hose to the inlet inside the pool's skimmer housing; that socket has a suction adjustment that allows me to dial up or down the suction going to the Great White.I have connected the SkimmerMotion two different ways: 1) Following the SkimmerMotion instructions, I connected the T-joint to the Great White's hose and let the Great White pull the SkimmerMotion around the pool. That worked well, since I only had to adjust the socket inside the skimmer housing to get the proper distribution of suction between the Great White and the SkimmerMotion. Easily attached and easily adjusted. 2) To use the SkimmerMotion without the Great White, I stuck the T-joint directly into the socket inside the skimmer housing and plugged the open end of the T-joint with a golf ball. The SkimmerMotion was in the pool by itself and the suction adjustment is still available via the socket. In both configurations the SkimmerMotion worked exactly as advertised. The bugs get pulled in from several inches away, and go down the tube and on to the pool filter.I will be recommending this to my friends and neighbors. It does the job!The only reason for four stars rather than five is the price. Like most other swimming pool accessories, this costs more than it should.

Simpy does not do what it's supposed to do.
After I made the purchase I read the reviews. My fault! I should have read the reviews first.I remained optimistic though as some folks had had good results. When I got the unit I immediately saw what some users meant when they commented about the price for what you get. That was my first impression.I was easy to get the unit installed. I have a variable spped pump. I had no problems others have had with getting the unit floating evenly ... I set the pump at 3500RPM. Nothing flowing through the unit. I upped the RPM to 4000. Nothing. 4500 RPM. Still noting. I chechked the hoses (with the pump running) and almost sucked my fingers down the pipe!! Yep, no problem with suction ... just no whirlpool on top of the unit as I would have expected. It followied my sweeper around the pool. Little gnats and other bugs happily floating through and by the unit.I'd seen enough. Back into the box (after I dried it) and a request for a refund. I will say the company immediately refunded my money once I dropped it off at UPS. Kudos to them for that!Bottom line, this did not work for me.

Great for small debris that skimmer can’t get
Works great for the small debris (bugs and pollen) and micro debris too small for net. Works “okay” for larger debris though skimmer is arguably better. Keeps the surface looking clean and fresh by sucking stuff that the skimmer leaves behind.Phoenix, walking pool, 40’x14’x5’, poolvac xl, 2300 rpm pump.

A decent skimmer but really cheap quality hose (That broke in less than a year)
This is a good skimmer attachment if perhaps overpriced based solely on the cost of materials used. The worst is the hose. It is very low quality and stiff plastic. The lack of flex will cant the skimmer a bit to the side which diminishes the ability to create the whirlpool effect and also reduces skimming from one side. All that said, it still does do the job, it is just frustrating that it could work so much better if they would have just spent a little more on the hose.Update: I have had this skimmer for about a month now. I am updating my review and dropping another star primarily due to this cheap hose. The longer I own this, the more it irritates me. The hose is still stiff and retaining the shape from being coiled in the box. The kicker is that they made it with a built in weight a few feet down on the hose which would have been great if the hose flexed like it should. It does not and the skimmer is always tilted a bit. Also, I have it set up correct with proper flow to create the whirlpool effect but not so much that it sucks in air. While it definitely is better than no skimmer, you can watch it in action and see that a lot of surface debris is just pushed out of the way by this instead of getting sucked in. I'm talking even tiny stuff like pollen. Large debris will just swirl around and often get stuck against the spires and stop the whirlpool from forming.Updated my rating to "it's OK" as that is about what it is. I will be on the lookout for something better as due to my simple pool, I cannot use a skimmer and pool cleaner..Update 3-1-2016 : Well the super cheap hard plastic hose broke after a little less than a year. I bought another here on amazon for a reasonable price but I am pretty sure it will be another cheap hose. I would be MORE than willing to pay more and get a hose that is of the same quality as a standard pool vac hose. Tis thing uses a very small 3/4" hose that is not very universal. Not dropping another star (as if anyone really cares) because I already knew the hose was made of cheap plastic.
