Mafia/crime family romance
Toxic by Maggie ColeStars 4.5/5Spicy level 4/5Toxic level 1/5Vibes: touch her and d!3, second chance, triggers, mafia/crime familyReview:Wow, the writing style is just incredible. The slow burn is absolutely excruciating. And you are falling for all the characters at once. I’m in love with Sean. I’m in love with Dante. So realistic you feel like you are living it. It’s not often this type of love triangle exists and I’m glad I found it. It made me happy. Then it made me feel utterly gutted. This author has a way with words and has no mercy on your heart strings. What an emotional roller coaster. A masterpiece really. My heart hurt for Bridget. All she’s ever wanted is love and she has had it the truest of loves. She didn’t deserve everything that happened to her but she is a survivor. I wanted to scream at her so many times. My heart was bleeding all over the place for her and her family. Having a teenager myself I felt her pain through those moments. She was so lost in grief she forgot who she was and where she came from. With that being said I felt like the build up to what she was afraid of and what happened was kinda short. I guess I wanted more action and felt like it went extremely fast and I wanted to burn the world a little longer. This was a quick read filled with lots of love. Lots of spicy. And definitely a book boyfriend you’ll always remember. I can’t wait to read another book by her. I enjoyed her writing style for sure.

Such a great read
I have been in a slump when it comes to reading. I have one book that I have been reading 1-2 pages at a time to keep my kindle streak alive but haven't enjoyed it. I decided to take a break and try this book which I've had in my library for over a year. I'm so upset with myself that I haven't read it faster! It was such a good book I devoured it and it definitely broke my reading slump I was in. Thank you for that Maggie Cole it's exactly what I needed. Dante is now on my list of favorite male fictional characters. His love was so pure and kind 🩷

Hot & Steamy Perfection!!
If you loved Maggie Cole's original Mafia Wars series, then hang on tight for her first installment in the new series Mafia Wars New York. I loved this story from beginning to end. Dante is a strong alpha male who has a depth to him that is revealed to Bridget. Dante has loved Bridget for years, but circumstances pull them apart and she eventually marries another man. The backstory of these two main characters was perfectly detailed with such feeling and precision that each side was equally understood as the perfect lead-in to the rest of the story. Bridget returns home to New York after tragedy strikes, and Dante is pulled to her once again. The depth of feeling Dante has for Bridget is breathtaking, and he does everything to ensure her safety. The two of them become magnetically pulled together once again and sparks fly throughout, making this a book I was not able to put down until the very end. Dante and Bridget’s story is so compelling and intriguing that I did not want it to end. This was an amazing book that I can not wait to read again.

Had potential
The book started off great. But The main character was irritating childish. She acted like a 20-year-old when she supposed to be 40. Very immature. MMC deserved more. He deserved better. There was also too many Side Stories going on it was hard to follow. The friend Cara came out of nowhere and was equally irritating. Supposed to be a standalone but too many things from other books were discussed and I was completely lost multiple times. Too many Side Stories, too many names from other books. Very confusing.

Awesome
This book was great it went from wher Bridget & Danta were teenagers, then to them being grown & Bridget being married to someone else. Danta loves her all though the years & is great with her kids. Bridget carries a secret for years that she can tell no one. This book is a 10 out of 5-1 score

A great start to a series
If you are looking for a mafia second chance romance with mature characters and great action, then… this book is for you.Stars: 4.5/5Spice: 3/5Although I loved the book here are a few things I wish I knew before reading (no spoilers):1) The blurb is incredibly misleading and not representative of the plot2) A good part of the beginning they are not together3) There are (sometimes major) time jumps between chapters that can be jarringHaving had his chance and wasting it with Bridget, Dante has to watch her fall in love and have a life with another man. Although he likes and respects her husband, he has never given up hope that maybe someday he might have a chance. Little does he know that it will take many years before a second chance appears.I loved this book! I am not a big fan of second chance romances but this one blew all my misconceptions out of the water. Although this couple is mentioned in several books of the previous series, you can read it without any prior knowledge because the author does and amazing job of catching the reader up with what’s going on.

This Book Was Hot And Totally Awesome
Toxic is the first of Maggie Cole's New York Mafia Wars series; I anxiously awaited this novel, as Maggie is an expert in weaving her novels together in such a way that you are already interested, invested, and intrigued about the characters before you even turn the first page. In Toxic, we are introduced to Bridget, her late husband Sean, and Dante. All of the books in this series are amazing, and I highly recommend reading them in order. Toxic is the love story between Dante Marino and Bridget O'Conner that started when they were teenagers. Due to immaturities, miscommunication, and teenage angst, they didn't get together and Bridget went on to find the love she sought in Sean O'Malley. Dante never got over Bridget and lived with years of regret, filling the void in his heart with meaningless sex. After Sean had passed, Bridget isolated herself and lived only to keep her children safe. Toxic is the story of Bridget and Dante overcoming their demons, and Bridget learning to trust and lean on others in order to move on and live her life to the fullest. This book is full of all the feels and has many of the steamy scenes that Maggie is so amazing at creating. I can't wait for the second book in the series, in which we get to meet Dante's twin Gianni Marino and his ex-girlfriend Cara Serrano. Maggie already has hooked me in with Toxic, and I am here for it.

Gab schon bessere

Dark Mafia Wars !!
Amazing book !! So Hot 🔥 🥵 🔥 Dante was a sexy mofo all the way so much you could feel it through the pages 🥵😚 & how he loved Bridget all through the years Sigh !! ... He had his demons to deal with but I did feel for him through the years because of the mistake he made , listening to his brother but he was too young to realise the damage it caused him . Bridget was such a lovely person & a strong woman in her own right also she had her own demons to get through , you could feel the chemistry between Dante & Bridget WOW !! & the smexy times were smoldering hot ☄️🌋 had to cool off through them 💧 Even though it was a Mafia book I wouldn't say that there was over the top violence or killing throughout I personally felt it was interspersed throughout the story as & when needed & I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to see what happened next & I couldn't put it down so it was an all-nighter until I finished it , Phew ! So I would definitely recommend this book as it was a great story & held my attention all the way through & now I've downloaded the next one in the series as I can't wait to find out how Gianni and Cara get on ?

The story I’ve been waiting for 💔
After getting the smallest tastes of Bridget’s story in Mafia Wars and then the O’Malleys, I have been dying to know the backstory and Maggie did not disappoint!! I was so drawn in to the anguish and turmoil of these characters - I couldn’t put the book down and finished it in a day (release day 😂) I’m so relieved at how their joined stories came to fruition-but from at least halfway through I was already anticipating what is going to happen with Dante‘s brother and his love interest for the next book and I’m so upset I have to wait so long now to find out in the next book 😩Maggie Cole is one of my unicorn authors & she has yet to disappoint me.Forever a 5 ⭐️ read ♥️~Nic xx

Good but…
The story as a whole is good. I enjoyed it enough to finish it but it definitely isn’t going to be one of those that I read over and over. I really disliked the start. The continuous time jumps were frustrating. I just wanted to get on to the actual story. Then it seemed the secret the FL was keeping was going to be the biggest plot twist, or game changer ever. I felt like the bits and pieces we were getting was a precursor to the big reveal when in reality the bits and pieces were pretty much the whole thing and the resolution of it was very anticlimactic. When a whole story revolves around one problem/issue, and then gets fully resolved in a matter of one or two chapters, I feel like I missed out on something.
