ESP8266 microcontroller NodeMCU Lua V3 WiFi with CH340G

For the price ESP8266s are fantastic.I do have a few complaints:- the pre-soldered pins are too close to the edge. When holding the board it is very likely that you'll short two or more pins with your fingertips. Would be nice to see just a little more pcb around the perimeter. It does come on a block of foam, so don't lose that like I did.- although it fits on a breadboard, the pins sit in the last row making prototyping impossible.- getting it functional on a mac was a little time consuming

I ordered this with the intention of using the VIN pin to supply power to an LED only to find that the VIN pin is only supplying .87 mv instead of 5V. I returned the board for a replacement, and that board had the same issue. As also stated in another review, the two headers on the board are spaced to far out to allow you to access the adjacent connections on a bread board.

This is some strange ESP12N version. At some point had to rewrite flash completely. Looks like it has only 1Mb of flash.

Never got it to boot up. Tried a number of combos of drivers, Arduino IDE board selections etc. I'm sure I could get it up if I wanted to put more work into it, but not worth it to me. Maybe I will try it again when I don't actually need to get a project going and have time to figure out how to make it work

Awesome little board. Easy to use with arduino ide. I use it as a fauxmo device. endless uses. Not really protoboard friendly as it spans almost the full width, blocking all the holes

I have bought a few of these before, but never the V3. This one performs terribly in comparison to the V1. I prefer the MAKERFOCUS 2PK here on amazon.

Reason why I'm giving this product three stars is because the solder job was horrible, other than that the product was alright.
