Well made, easy to install
This is a full aluminum part...well made. It saved me so much money versus going to a garage and having the entire cable replaced. The cable was fine, the plastic lever just broke off. This part simply replaces the plastic lever. The hardest part was removing the remnants of the broken plastic lever off the end of the cable before installing this new part. But in all it took about 5 minutes to fix.

Great solution to a common issue!!!
It's a known issue common to many vehicles, but Honda Civics in particular, that the plastic Hood Release Pull will break. This is not only frustrating, but potentially a very big problem. I was using a small pair of Vice-Grips, but that' was a very clunky solution, and had not found any used parts which were also intact. This piece was thoughtfully designed. Simple, easy instillation, and I am confident the solid construction will last us for the life of the car. Thank you!

Ok, this was just way too easy! I used the wire cutters to cut around the plastic part and vice grips to pull the plastic off. The hardest part was getting the cover back on but that was fairly simple. It is solid and works great. Much better than the original.

Worked perfectly on a 2000 Civic Si
Better than the OEM part given that it's machined from 6061 billet aluminum. The OEM part is plastic. Regardless, the OEM part lasted for almost 20 years.Installation took less than 30 minutes. The most time consuming part of installation was trimming the left over plastic sleeve from the original broken latch handle. Thanks to the supplier's instructional video, no gotchas. You'll need about an inch of exposed pin to slide the replacement latch handle onto. 6 inch dykes made short work out of it.I especially like that it has two set screws, not one like a competing part. Having two set screws is confidence inspiring.I torqued the set screws tightly with the provided hex wrench. I had some concern about stripping them but fortunately that didn't happen. Before installation, I removed the set screws, cleaned them and latch handle threads with alcohol. After doing so, I coated the set screws with Loctite blue 242 and installed. Loctite isn't necessary but I had some on hand so I used it.If ever there was a five start product, this is it. Buy with no hesitation.

Works on a 99 Civic
This works fine for a 99 Civic. What I like about this is that it has 2 screws that tighten against the cable. I tightened just 1 to try it and it was sufficient to pull the cable. The second only ensures better grip and long term reliability. The trickiest part of the installation is removing the old plastic at the end of the cable. They recommend you remove an inch. I used a small pipe cutter to get a clean cut. Wire cutters would probably work too but would create a bit of a mess. The downside to this is the price. The billet aluminium does cost. I went to the Honda dealer and the whole cable was only $20. That route is a bit more work but at least you get a whole new factory cable and handle for a few dollars more.

Installation took maybe 15-20 minutes
I got this for my '06 Honda Element and it's perfect. Installation wasn't too bad, all I did was take a hammer and chisel to break off the brittle plastic from the original latch (no wonder it broke off). I didn't even remove the cover piece that goes around the hood release latch, I was able to work around it thanks to small hands and nimble fingers.

Is not nearly as easy as the instructions say
This was fairly difficult to install, i ended up wearing the plastic away with vice grips. It's not as easy and using wire cutters, the plastic is too hard. Otherwise if you can get the plastic off the wire it works great

This is a 15 Min Job, Replacing the OEM cable, is about 1.5 Hours
This is a 15 Min Job, Replacing the OEM cable, is about 1.5 Hours. This is about $13, the Replacement Cable, is about $35,This is a Permanent Fix, with an Aluminum Handle; The OEM will be another plastic one that will break again one day, you have to disassemble the grill, the fender well, and fish it threw the fire wall. With the Kit you just remove a plastic Panel, and two Ten mm bolts. The Hardest part is cutting the plastic off the old cable, with a set of wire cutters. The Kit looks better than the Original. There are Videos of BOTH procedures on you tube. I don't think anyone will watch them both, and then decide to go OEM.
