Thonet & Vander Frei Bluetooth Speaker, Black

First of all i am an avid bose fan but since i keep having issue with my soundlink mini i wanted to look for something in similar sound but not going to break my budget. I happed to stop by at my local sam's club and i stumbled upon this sytem by thonet and vander. I immediately tested it, but not this bluetooth device, it was computer speaker. My first impression was the retro looking thing it was nice and you can tell from the feel of it that it's not a cheap looking device, so i listen to the sound and i'm accustomed to listening to bose and the signature sound of them, but this sound system is like listening to bose they have clearer sound just enough bass not to overpower everything, it sounded so clear like anything i've ever heard of. I was happy to have this bluetooth device when i checked it out at amazon coz i know it's going to sound good and i was not disappointed. For cheaper price than my mini soundlink i think bose are over hyped with their logo.

My Big Jambox died after about 6 years. Reviews for this speaker sounded great, got it and set it up. Sound was pretty good but bass was tinny. The deal breaker was the speakerphone. It was described as making my calls sound like Charlie Brown adults (WA-WA-WA). I'm sending it back and buying a Bose.

I need a powerful Bluetooth speaker to overcome all of the noise that comes with getting around in an average-loud Volkswagen bus, which is my daily driver. Anyway, the Frei speaker's product description says that the peak power is 50 watts, which I had hoped would have filled my own volume requirements. However, using a quality decibel meter and with everything else being equal, I discovered that my 20 watt SkullCandy Air Raid speaker blasted 110 decibels at the meter at full volume while this Frei speaker only blasted 100 decibels at the meter while at full volume. What's more, when I turn on my Air Raid speaker it pairs with my I Phone literally right away and then blasts what was playing on WXYG, my favorite music-streaming source, at the very volume it was blasting WXYG at before I had last turned my Air Raid speaker off. This Frei speaker though takes like fifteen or more seconds to pair with my I Phone, and once it has paired it's volume defaults to coming on about 75% of peak volume even though when I had last turned it off it was at full volume. So to turn the Frei on and then wait for it to pair takes way too long for my tastes. And once it does pair and then starts blasting at only 3/4 volume I then have to fiddle with it further to bring it up to full volume. So I sent this small Frei back, thanks to Amazon's generous returns policies (I love Amazon - they have not disappointed me yet). Audiophiles might think the sound itself of the Frei is better than everything else. But I am not so much interested in crispness of sound. Instead I am wanting a Bluetooth speaker that will overpower the exhaust, engine, tire and open-window noise of a VW bus, and quickly. So for those who have similar requirements I recommend SkullCandy's Air Raid Bluetooth speaker over the Thonet and Vander Frei Bluetooth speaker. May the innocent be blessed and protected first. The build quality and style of the device is very nice. It feels solid and has a modern look to it. It easily fills a room and call quality over it is not bad either

Poor Bluetooth connection, frequnt crackling and popping noise from pausing and playing songs. Also, audible static in the background at all time. I might have received a bad unit, am sending it back.

Expected it to be a little better sound quality but for the price,, it's not bad since I use it as a 2nd speaker..I have a Bose so that's comparing apples to grapes so to say...

This speaker is amazing bass amazing super load its pretty light small easy to take around range amazing wow i am very impressed about this speaker thonet and Vander whenever I make a v2 of this speaker i will buy it it amazing music sound clear good job
