Glowbys LED Fiber Optic Light-Up Hair Barrette - Rainbow

The media could not be loaded.  The fiber optic light strands look cool when they work. But unfortunately the switching device (clip) is so poorly put together, it stopped working on the very first use. There is a microscopic spring that connects the clip to the battery, and when the hair clip is closed, the circuit is completed and the lights turn on. BUT the hair clip is just barely attached, and the spring or clip will randomly fall out. Good luck finding the spring. The whole device looks like it was built by 2nd graders with parts from the dollar store.So if you fiddle with it enough and don't completely lose the spring, you can get it to work, but for how long is the question. It basically doesn't work more than it works. The lights do look cool though.

First off, let me say clearly: this is a cheap little toy with the quality you'd expect from a Chinese dollar store type item. But in the dark the little LED strands look pretty good! Not like the pic, of course, but still just fine.Out of the box our barrette did not work, which from the reviews was not unexpected. After looking at it for a second and thinking about how it works, I switched the polarity of the batteries. So if your barrette is not working, flip both little coin cells over so the one that was positive up becomes negative up and vise versa.If that works, what it means is the LED was installed backwards! Its two seconds to flip the LED over to the correct orientation or if you leave the batteries "backwards" according to the markings on the case that's perfectly fine as well.

I bought these LED Fiber Optic Light-UP Hair Barrettes for my niecesfor Christmas and New Years. The one who is eleven years old likedgoing to the skating ring skating in the dark with them attached to herbraids. She thought the barrettes enhanced her skating fun and ability.These barrettes are for ages three and up, but my fourteen year old niecethought they were for little kids. The lighted barrettes can also be purchasedat the Dollar Tree Store. The item took about two months to arrive. Priced right,because these are more unique and different than the ones at the Dollar Tree.They light-up as pictured with batteries.

Not worth the price. These are dollar store quality and the back keeps popping off the battery cover. The low profile means there is no on off button so they are either on or off. And the description says "rainbow" but the items they shipped are listed as "white" so I did not get what I was expecting. The image of the girl wearing the item is not accurate. They work... but I would not recommend them since they don't look like in the picture, they shipped the wrong color, and the back easily pops out of place. These appear to be made for a single use.

The photo of the woman with pigtails and two light strands in her hair was the primary photo when I purchased this item. I think it's misleading to use this as the main photo when all you get is a single strand. The product is very flimsy, as I expected for the price, but I was expecting two strands for that price. Amazon should make it clearer that you're only getting one strand and remove the photos of multiple strands.

I bought one rainbow barrette, but it was not Glowbys. When I took it out of the envelope it was in a thin plastic sleeve that was not a Glowbys package with some bubble wrap duct taped around the top. All I can say for it was that it was not folded.When I turned it on, I was disappointed. You can see the color, but there was not very much of it, not many strands. The thing that really lights up is the case, which I did not want. I tried to put it in my hair, but I could not get it so the box was completely covered. I have thick, straight hair. I do not see how people stick four of them into their hair.I may try to put them in with my hair curled, but overall I would not recommend getting this.

Very cool hair clip! I bought the rainbow color and it does not disappoint! The batteries have seemed to last forever and I wore it one night for 6 hours and my 4 year old plays with it for hours every couple of nights. One clip won't give you the look of the girl in the picture (with pigtails).. but one is enough to give you just a hint of glow throughout your hair. I would highly recommend this for either a club/rave night, or even as a dress up toy for younger girls. I'm definitely ordering more.

My daughter wore these in her hair at her 13th bday party at the roller rink. They were so cute and all the girls loved them. Only thing I did not like is that you can not turn them on and off but I just kept the plastic strip they came with and put it back in at the end of the night. Also ordered another brand but they were defective. I would definitely say spend the couple of extra dollars and get the Glowbys brand.
