Every filament purchase includes an email with a quick-start PDF guide containing tips on printing, recommended settings, and troubleshooting suggestions. Filament Storage: • Since PLA material is made from biodegradable sources, it is susceptible to moisture. We recommended storing filament in a sealed plastic bag or box after each print (a large ziplock or Tupperware works well). • In extreme cases where the filament gets damp, you can bake it in an oven with 50-degree Celsius for about an hour to restore its dryness. Note: DigiStruct Filament contains NO phthalates. • Phthalates are added to a variety of plastics to soften the structure and reduce brittleness. While this is an important characteristic for PLA filament to have, we consider this an unnecessary risk, given the potential health concerns around phthalate use. This is especially underscored since the filament is being melted, potentially increasing the exposure via air. • DigiStruct filament formula is engineered to naturally provide a level of softness and breakage resistance to compensate for the lack of phthalate use. Expect to see this formula improve over time, in the safest possible way. DigiStruct Spool Design: The goal of our spool design is to use as little plastic as possible to be eco-friendly while also reducing the overall weight, packaging size, and cost. Equally as important, the design provides the flexibility for our customers to change the core size by 3D printing their own inserts based on their specific need.
