This is not a MRE!
While the product seems to be a good value for the money, I think the seller should make it more clear that this is not a MRE, but Humanitarian Daily Ration. One one hand, this is a good thing. HDR is designed to be food for a while day, while MRE is one meal. On the other hand, HDR does not include an entree warmer many might expect to find in a MRE.Also, buyers should know that the entrees are free of animal products - in other words, no meat as we know it.

Inspection date?
I got these for use in emergency food prep and to have at work when I run out of food and can’t make it out somewhere to buy food.I have tried one of these already and everything tastes great and is filling. No heating is required either but I placed one of the meals on the hot dashboard of my car and warmed one up a little. The only concern I have is the inspection date. The headline says 6/2022 or newer but the commercial pop tart included in the ration had a wrapper with a Spider-Man movie advertisement on it. When I looked up the release date for the move it was summer of 2019. So either the pop tarts they got for the ration were older than the rest of the contents or the entire ration was from 2019.Either way I just want to through that out there so people can be prepared to replace the rations at the appropriate time.

for the price, can't beat it.
the one i got was made in oct. 2019, isp date of 10/22if your shy about your packages, the box in the description is the box is shipped in.the box i got was clean, no signs of damage. tried one of the meals, it's not bad, don't expect much, there are no accessory packets, besides salt, pepper, crushed red pepper and sugar.my recommendation is anyone that buys these, buy a couple first strike rations, for the junk food, and eat one of HDR's, to see if it's not spoiledi did buy a 2nd box, if your wondering

Not MRE replacement
So it was never claimed to be an MRE replacement but that’s the question we all have when looking at this. The price is just too low to not want to give it a try. I’ll give you a quick run down on package contents and my thoughts on them. The box contains 10 daily rations. There are two full meals in each bag. They are marked 1-5 and there are two of each. They are not labeled as far as what meals are in them. So far I have eaten 4 of the 5 meal types and I have found that they all contain the same thing.Contents of each bag.Beans and rice for one meal and lentil stew for the other. I did find two of the 4 that I ate had elbow macaroni with tomato sauce and it had lentils in it. (This replaced the beans and rice)Two unfrosted strawberry pop tartsTwo packs of crackers (same crackers that are in MRE’s)Pack of peanut butter and pack of strawberry jellyTwo fig newtons (one pack with two fig newtons)Short bread cookieA spoon (same as MRE spoon) salt pepper crushed red pepper sugar one napkin a moist towelette and a pack of paper matches (not humidity resistant)As far as flavor goes everything tastes fine all of these packs are 100% vegan there is no meat of any kind in any of the packs. Each pack does have basically all of your vitamins and minerals. You’ll get 90%+ of all essential vitamins and minerals every day. Will you starve to death eating only these? No you will not. Will you enjoy a plethora of varied and flavorful meat filled meals? No you will not. Are these a better option for survival food instead of USCG food bars? Maybe. They are large bulky and heavy. The same 10 day ration of USCG food bars will take up half the space and weigh half as much. Either way in a survival situation you’ll just be glad to have food to eat.Long story short MRE’s are a five star steak house and these are Taco Bell. The case that they come in are not labeled A or B so I am assuming that there is only one option. They are packed exactly the same as MRE’s. Same box same temperature sensor same super amazing 5 gallons of nuke proof glue holding the flaps together. Packed by the same Wornick company. Now you know. Give them a try for yourself. Your still curious. You know you are. Buy them. Try them. See if I’m wrong. Hahahaha
