These are thin spring steel blades
The item description was not inaccurate but these are the thinnest edger blades I've seen. GoldenwestLawnmowers says these are 100% OEM McLane 2059 blades made of spring steel and that McLane does not recommend thicker blades. These blades are 0.08“ (2 mm)McLane makes a McLane 2059 HD-10 which is a 10” blade. It’s just about twice as thick at 0.15” (3.8mm)The Oregon 40-503 seems to be equivalent to the McLane 2059 HD-10. It's a 10” high carbon steel blade and is 0.149” thick (3.8mm)By comparison, a Stens 375 352 is 0.1” (2.5 mm). All three of these fit on my McLane edger. Some reviews have explained that even though thin, spring steel at that thickness has equivalent wear as thicker high carbon steel blades. I don't know about differences in metals and have no way of verifying that information.GoldenwestLawnmowers would have fewer complaints if the thickness, durability and material differences were explained in the product description. When I opened the package and felt the blade was half the weight, I cried foul. If I find the spring steel blades have the same durability as the thicker high carbon steel blades I will revise this review, give 5 stars and explain the differences in detail.

these blades could be a little thicker and last longer
again, they are easily worn out

Priced Competively
It's a just a chunk of steel with a hole in it. Why pay more?

Still being sold for a machine more than 30 years old.
The McLane 9 x 1/2 Hole Edger Blade is currently being manufactured for an older machine. It's good to see that they still make the same parts for a machine more than 30 years old.

Husbands must have
We have a lot of sidewalks and a long drive and my husband does hours of edging. Durable and great price.

Way Cheaper than the original equipment for My DR edger.
They fit my DR edger just like the original. I have only used one so far, and it seems to be lasting as well as the original.

Works fine but thinner than the ones I usually get.
These do the job but will have to be replaced a little more often than I usually have to with the thick ones I normally buy but haven’t been able to find.

These are wafer-thin, which is not good.
These blades are way too thin. They used to be way thicker, and they also used to have a nice sharp edge ground on each end. Now, nothing.
