Very disappointed... My application was a bit of work and time consuming to get at to remove the old unit and install the new one. Worked ok but failed in less than one year. Will not buy again and don't recommend this product. Not reliable, also could be very dangerous for boating use.

I did not replace a steering system, I installed one on a boat that was a tiller after building a console for it. the kit comes with steering cable, steering hub, all brackets and bolts, and the hub cover. All you need is a wheel and a steerer tube on your motor, and this kit will get you up and running from nothing. If you''re just replacing a factory steering system, this will have everything you need. High quality, and I expect it to last a long time.

I bought my particular cable used for about $95, so happy with that price and there were zero issues other than a damaged box, which Amazon noted. Not so sure I would be quite so happy at $165. All of the components seem well-made. Template was spot on. I use some red Loctite to mount the actual mechanism to the bracket just to be on the safe side. No recommendation in the manual, and I don't believe the bolts were pre-coated. Nylocks are used elsewhere, and are included.I would say to be sure to note which model you have before you throw away the box, as the instructions cover multiple models, and they could be very different in terms of how you feed the cable into this. Some load from the bottom while others load from the top. I'd also like to see some better photographs, as it was not exactly crystal clear as to how this assembled, but there's lots of YouTube videos as well if you run into any difficulties. This was my first time installing a cable, so I'm sure if you've done it before it would be a piece of cake.Overall seems like a really quality product. This is one place where you don't want anything cheap, and I'm not seeing any place where they skimped on the quality. Quality throughout. I may replace the R clips with some stainless steel ones, but is zinc coated would probably be fine as most of the components are covered under a console. I'd add some extra grease to the cable end that feed in to the bezel end, and believe they recommend you do this as well.

Exactly as advertised. It so very simply to set up. This is the first boat I owned and worked on putting in a steer wheel and this cable made everything very simple

These are great steering systems. This one measured a little shorter than expected, has been returned.
