Extremely useful book on how to give yourself a much-needed kick in the pants!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone out there. Although Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is regularly used for a number of issues (stress, anger, pain, fatigue, eating disorders, PTSD, insomnia, depression), it would benefit any person who would like to work on their world view. In short, CBT is a technique-driven method to change your attitude from a glass half-empty to a glass half-full point of view. Instead of years of therapy working on the past, CBT uses exercises and journal entries to change your viewpoint about the here and now. This book gives you all of the techniques you need to accomplish this, in an easy to follow format. It’s written using a clear, simple voice, walking you through each exercise step by step. There are a number of forms and charts at the end of the book to fill out as you go.The first 2/3 of the book works on general CBT exercises that would work for almost any issue. The last third of the book goes into specifics on issues such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and OCD. Finally, the book ends with a discussion on when you should seek professional help beyond the scope of the book. It can be used by someone who wants to work on CBT alone, or it can be used alongside working with a therapist.Some of the chapters that I found the most valuable for me were the chapters on mindfulness, changing negative self-talk, and anger management. Unless you live a perfect life in perfect happiness, you should get this book.

So simple you won't beleive you didn't think of it yourself. Better than months of therapy.
Amazing book. It really makes everything seem so simple. I bought this to help with my son that has ASD and Anxiety. It is simple but not too simple . the exercises are appropriate. I just started reading it and have tried some of the simple steps. It is so logical and so simple you can't believe you need to read it to know about it. A lot if it is logical and intuitive, but we just get so caught up in our emotions we forget to THINK. This is for anyone that wants to think more positively. I have spent a great deal of money trying to get a therapist to do CBT and this book did more in one reading than months of therapy. We need to be able to apply this at home. If you don't want to go to therapy for years and learn to help yourself, this is it.

Awesome book!
I bought a few CBT books to help with my anxiety issue. I liked all of them but this one particularly stood out for its practicality and useful application methods described in detail. The theory and practice guide in this book made a perfect antidote for me.I realized that so many people are victim of mental disorder because of their upbringing and society culture.I am learning a lot from this book chapter after chapter and am well in the process of renewing my mind to live a new life.Thanks much Jayme!

Helpful book
I became interested in this subject and checked out every book I could find about it. This is the one I liked best. It covers the topic well without being overly wordy and complicated. Pretty well organized. In my opinion.
