Laplink PCmover Ultimate 10 with USB 3.0 Transfer Cable - 1 Use

This is a terrible product, with terrible customer service, and it is shocking that Microsoft endorses it. Not only does the product not perform as advertised, but their "Free Transfer Assistance" program, which one MUST use because the product is so bad, is merely a scheme to SELL unwanted and unneeded services. [This FTA gives Laplink total control over your computers!] I was attempting to transfer programs, files, and data from an impeccably-maintained Windows 10 p.c. to a brand-new Windows 10 p.c. I am a very experienced software person, who has been working with computers since 1965. Microsoft used to provide a built-in transfer system, but that has been eliminated in Windows 10 (thank you, Microsoft, NOT!) Thus, one has to buy a 3rd-party package. It is not practical to do this process manually. Specialized software is required. The two leading contenders are Zinstall and Laplink, and only Laplink is endorsed by Microsoft. Zinstall is also twice as expensive. I chose Laplink due to the Microsoft endorsement, and that was a grievous error.

Good for 1 use, make sure you aware of this, as I had hoped to use this product on a couple of my older computers to transfer to new ones. NO GO.It does work, so if you only need it one time?

absolutely sucks!!!I I have a new computer, with the Operating system (Windows 10) mounted in the C drive, which is only about 120 GB. I have an old computer, the operating system {again Windows 10} and all programs on the C drive, which is a very large drive, occupied by both operating system and windows. That drive, when shrunk to the max, is still too large to fit in new C drive. There appears to be no way to transfer files and settings to the new computer,Really kind of sucks. tried their "free" assistance, and after dealing with the usual communications problems, allowed them to take control of my computer. A short while later, for only two hundred bucks (!!!!!!), they said they "might" be able to fix the issue. Being somewhat skeptical, I declined.

This is a terrible product. I have spent hours trying to get it to work and was consistently getting error messages. I even tied to transfer the data via a external hard drive. It only transferred some of the files. Would not move over MS Office as advertised. In fact my new computer is so messed up now, I'm going have to delete everything and start over. Would have been easier to just do it the old fashion way. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PILE OF ,,,, Microsoft should be ashamed to support this. Update. had to have the new computer repaired, now no license, so not able to transfer anything. DO NOT BUY THIS WORTHLESS SOFTWARE

I am echoing this previous review that this is a terrible product. Their free assistance is a SCAM to get you to purchase a $199 product or a $99 service. You are required to give Laplink total control over your computers, at which point they run a scan and detect PUP registry entries (unwanted programs) that are not harmful. They require you to remove them else they will not help. This may have been a good company in the past, but they have transformed into a SCAM operation. It ultimately did work, but not the way I wanted it.

This actually worked as advertised! Connect two machines after installing the software on each, and then answer a few questions about which programs, files, setting, etc you want transferred, start the process and go away. It does not require babysitting.Several hours later you have your old computer in your new computer.Be sure to use the included cable. Note that you can use the same cable and buy additional licenses if you want to update several machines.

This product would never load on the new laptop I purchased for my husband. It did load on his old one perfectly fine, but without being able to connect both after more than an hour of trying all resources we could fine, we gave up. And, yes, we had gotten rid of fireballs and Antivirus. My hubs was too frustrated to use their proxy in service after waiting for quite a while phone help to even kick in. Buyer beware!

Got everything moved, but it wasn't nearly as easy as they advertised.

I find it fascinating that Microsoft keeps issuing new Windows versions but can't figure out how to convert an existing customers files software and settings but expects users to find all their original software ans serial numbers and reload etc etc. In some ways it is just as well as with years of experience as a software company owner I do not trust Microsoft to get it right and to avoid tinkering to their competitive advantage if they did,Thank God for Laplink Otherwise I would have never adopted new versions of Windows. A extremely well designed product with a tolerable user interface (explanations assume to much user knowledge of the terms and implications. This is a very difficult task that Microsoft is unable to do adequately so Kudos to Laplink. The potential to badly screw things up with a myriad of applications by a zillion software sources of varying competence and attention to detail and yet they pull it off superbly. The only program thay didn't get right is Dragon Naturally Speaking and those folks are Godawful setup wise so it is not surprising..

The software moved my files/programs from my old pc to my new pc. Of course certain programs need a new license--since these program identifies the computer that is running it.Once you can identify and shutoff the programs running in the background of the old computer--the transfer went very well.I recommend this software.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I spent 3 hours on phone with HP to remove and fix everything this program did to my computer. It doesn't work!!!!
