As a professional AV integrator, I've used audio extenders from Geffen, Binary, Vanco, and several other brands over the years. After discovering this J-Tech Digital extender, it's become my go-to solution.What makes this unit stand out is its versatility. It can send digital audio over a single Cat5e/Cat6 cable, and on the receiving end you can choose between optical (SPDIF), digital coaxial, or analog stereo output. The built-in DAC is a huge advantage because it allows you to convert a digital TV audio signal directly into analog without needing additional hardware.This has been incredibly useful for our Control4 installations. We often need to send TV audio back to an audio matrix so the room's speakers can play whatever is on the television. Some matrices only accept analog audio while others support optical, and this extender works perfectly with either. Having both options in one product eliminates the need for extra converters and simplifies inventory.Another feature I absolutely love is Power over Cable (PoC). Unlike many competing products that require the power supply to be mounted behind the TV, this unit can be powered from either the transmitter or receiver. That means I can leave all the power supplies neatly organized in the AV rack instead of trying to hide another bulky power brick behind a wall-mounted TV. It makes for a much cleaner and more professional installation.It's been reliable, easy to install, and far more flexible than several higher-priced alternatives I've used. Needed to run hdmi over 50ft and was running into hdmi handshake issues with a previous adapter. Instead I decided to relocate the video source and try sending the audio. I bought this and used an hdmi audio extractor to send the digital audio via spdif over Ethernet.It works like a charm with no added latency to the audio. Now I can still use my old playbar with hdmi sources.

This newest model will take an analog or digital audio input. The transmitter is capable of converting an analog audio signal (or just a toslink digital) and then transmit that signal to a connected Cat (I was lucky - spares in my walls) to their receiver on the other side (powered over the cable) and either output to toslink, or as in my case, converted back to analog audio. It is as simple as plugging in power, plugging in audio on the transmitter; plugging in the Cat on both tx and rx; and plugging in the audio on the receiver. It just works. It took my analog audio (off Sonos speaker output) from where I had it in a headend closet across 50' to where I needed it at a reasonable cost - and I didn't have to pollute the house with more RF to do it). And it works perfectly - my analog > digital > analog conversion and route is crisp and clear. I detect no loss; no distortion; no additional signals. I should not that this is a direct cable - there is no router involved.Thanks Tech Digital for a truly great product.

The best way to transmit audio from your Patio TV to the House Audio System. Take the Fiber Optic out of your TV and send it over cat 5 or 6 cable up to 328 feet. For best performance on all streaming platforms from YouTube to Amazon Prime, Set the TV audio output to PCM rather than Auto.

Item works well to transmit 2 channels of analog or 5 channels of digital audio over CATV5e/6 cable up to 300 meters. Conversion and transmission has very low latency. Power for transmitter and receiver can be input at either module, facilitating installation. The modules are well made with sturdy metal cases.

Works exactly as described, audio quality is great, used on an install to extract audio from a Samsung Frame TV into an analog system. Cat6 run was about 110ft and audio is crystal clear.

This device works as intended. The big issue I experienced is the level of volume which comes out. It is too low and you will need gain knob or signal booster to get it volume back up using the 3.5mm jack. If the volume level would remain the same this would be 5 Stars all day but having to add another cost of using this device has it at 3 stars.Thank you for taking the time to read my review and photos of this product.
