Gallery Of Suicide

What an underrated album in The Corpses catalog.
In 1996 Cannibal Corpse fired former vocalist Chris Barnes, and hired former Monstrosity vocalist George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher, and released their first album with him on vocals in 'Vile' and it was an awesome album, people saw a change in the band, now most metal fans say Cannibal Corpse never changed, that's not true, they changed even before Chris Barnes left, you can hear it in his final album 'The Bleeding', and they changed again with the addition of Corpsegrinder on vocals.Well guess what, there is a difference between 'Vile' and this album 'Gallery of Suicide' for one, the band seems to have gotten more technical this time around, while 'Vile' the band did change as I stated, but it was far from technical, well this album is the complete opposite, it's still Cannibal Corpse yes, but with more of a technical side, this is best prevalent in tracks such as track 5 'Gallery of Suicide' opening with a slow, almost doom riff, it's very melodic, another track worthy of this mention is the instrumental 'From Skin to Liquid' this song is slow, and heavy as all hell, with those punishing guitar riffs, and slow creepy leads, excellent track, 'Chambers of Blood' is another track that belongs in this section, opening with an awesome set of riffs and leads that just hook you right off, Corpsegrinders awesome vocals come in over the top of those slows creepy heavy riffs, just incredibly awesome.I don't have much time, or I would go into more detail about this what I feel is a masterpiece of an album, and for those who say this is a stain in The Corpses discography, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, pay no attention, if you're a fan of Cannibal Corpse, you need this album, do not listen to the naysayers on this one, they can't appreciate a band changing I guess.

More clarity than most previous albums
The sound is better than vile and the vocals are more clear. I think this is the first album they put an instrumental on as well. More clarity in all aspects, yet the bass drum does not sound as "bassy" as I would like. Cool tempo changes and heavy riffs with well thought out vocals make this an overall great album for anyone who loves the corpse!

every bone broken
how does Gallery of Suicide measure-up? if you love Corpse, you'll love this. i put it on par with Butchered at Birth (from the Chris Barnes era). my favorite track is "dismembered & molested", but if you like one of these songs, you'll like them all. the riffs are brutal & complex. the vocals are more guttural, instead of the mid-range, semi-intelligible style that George goes for. the production is great, but not quite as clear as Kill or Evisceration Plague. if you want some crushing brutality, get this & Bloodthirst. if you want more of a catchy, pop death metal sound, get Gore Obsessed or The Wretched Spawn.

If you don't like, then don't review!!!
I try not to let the ridiculous people who slam Cannibal on here ever get to me ... BUT, come on. If I hate something, I don't waste my time reviewing it. What's the point? All right, deep down inside I'm sure we'd all like to give hateful reviews to music like, Michael Bolton, Slipsnot, Kornhole, and so on. This always reminds me of people who go after Gwar. I have to ask these people: do you really think when the guys in Cannibal sit down to write lyrics, they actually think, "Well, with luck maybe one person will read these words and violate some dead nuns and hack their entire family to death." I hate to label Cannibal, but they could also be described as 'horror' metal. And musically, I'd love to see a lot of these STUPID bands that you see on Jay Leno and whatever other idiot's on television, try and actually play a CC song. Don't even tell me someone like the bass player from Korn can master Alex Webster's licks. No way. As far as Gallery of Suicide goes? Flawless. I gave this one 5 stars because it really hit me as hard as Butchered At Birth. In terms of the lyrics and visualizing the horror of what's being sung about, these tunes will freak you out. And if any CC fan reading this hasn't gotten, Wretched Spawn, yet, don't kill time: it's a masterpiece. Cannibal is in the studio right now working on the next slab of gruesome metal. Can't wait. Necrosoul.

My favorite Corpse album with Fisher
George Fisher really brought the intensity on this album, previous to this they released Vile after recruiting George and rewriting Barnes original lyrics(seen on Created to Kill EP) But this album is much faster, with more shredding...and i mean shredding with super fast solos with blistering whammy squals. Double bass kicks with ferocious intent & some of the best use of the bass guitar i ever heard. Sick songs like I Will Kill You,Disposal of a Body,Blood Drenched Execution,Gallery of Suicide,Dismembered,From Skin to Liquid,Chambers of Blood,Every Bone Broken, & Crushing the Despised. This has to be my favorite George Fisher album, following close behind is Vile,Gore Obsessed & Kill. Check out the Worm Infested EP. I just got my order placed for Skeletal Domain & Torture so i will review them later. But don't be quick to dismiss the album cuz negative reviews go give it a listen & be the judge yourself.

Great
This is the fourth CC album I have bought, the other three being The Bleeding, Bloodthirst and Torture. In my opinion, this one comes fourth to those three. It has some great tracks such as "Gallery of Suicide" and "Stabbed in the Throat" but a few mediocre ones too. As an album, it isnt up there with the rest of CC but definitely still worth a buy.
