Planet Earth/Inside Out

This was just okay... I bought it because we homeschool and my son wanted to learn more about Earth's layers... however, some of it was overgeneralized to the point where it wasn't completely correct. Also, I disliked the comments about some scientists when it came to accepted scientific theories. Overall, I have mixed feelings about keeping the book on the shelf as a resource, but there are very few picture books on the market that describe Earth Science effectively and correctly for younger children.

We really like this book, the information is not overwhelming but it is accurate. The quality of the images are great.

This is a good informative book for kids. My seven year old loves it. There are big words but it’s not too scientific for a kid either. I will be buying other books in this series.

This book is marketed as if it's for preschoolers. As a science educator, I'll tell you flat out: it's not.After sitting down and reading the book with my 4 year old, I'd wager a guess that the university professors who wrote this book don't have children of their own, because in terms of tone and presentation it completely misses the mark.The content delves into concepts such as plate tectonics, the earth's magnetic field, etc. Fine for a 7-8 year old, and maybe even a good introduction for a very precocious six year old. But younger kids? Save your four dollars and buy one of the National Geographic books.

My son was having some issues when it came to learning about the Earth, and understanding all of it's layers.We loved this book! It was very easy for my son to understand the points, and he learned quickly what the school material had complicated for him. With beautiful photos, and excellent illustrations, I would recommend this book to anyone.

Gail Gibbons does not disappoint.

I bought this book for my 6 year old granddaughter & read it to her. She really loved it! By nature she is very curious about science and nature and really appreciated the clear explanations and graphics (as did I)!

I have been searched for a book for 2nd graders that would be reader friendly and not too "over their heads". This is a great book and the illustrations are very nice.
