This is the second Fantom drive that I have purchased. The first one had a power supply failure at 3 months. I have owned this one for three months and it now has some issue that has caused me to return it for repair. Consumer has to pay the shipping. Seems to have poor quality control. It comes is a solid nice case, but to have two failures in two purchases is somewhat annoying.Update: Received the unit back after paying $20 to return it. They replaced the drive inside the unit. Lost all data that was stored. Same issue. Any time I need to use the drive I have to cycle the power off then back on. I have many drives and this is the only one that has the issue. My first Fantom does not have this problem and has been dependable after the first power supply issue. They obviously have some issue withs this drive.Of note, the factory advised that it would be unacceptable to return the unit for repair packed with ANY foam peanuts. They returned it to me packed in foam peanuts. They have strict return policy that device should be in original packing or they will void warranty.

I am using this product with my directv genie. Dvr space is 3 times larger, as expected and I am taking full advantage of it. However with the esata cord I bought there is a lag during the playback of prerecorded shows and the audio is choppy to say the least. Is this an issue with me buying a cheap cord, the hard drive or is this just the price you pay to have an expanded dvr? If the company or a consumer can help me resolve this issue I will bump up to 5 stars. I never go back and read comments and this is my ex's email account so try to contact me via Amazon if that's a thing.

Overall, I really like this external Harddrive. It was not without initial problems however. In my case I needed to replace the first one delivered because it was dead out of the box. Amazon sent another with expedited shipping and that one works fine to date. I use it for PC backups with eSATA connections between it and my PC. It's a little tricky using this connection type however. What needs to be done is to connect everything up first with the PC powered off. Then turn on the power to the Fantom Drive next and then power up the PC. When the PC boots through Windows the external drive is recognized in a new directory. I use Acronis software for backup and everything works like a charm. Very, Very fast backup. The Fantom drive also has a USB 3.0 connector which is also nice. My PC allows hot swap of USB connections so using Windows to mount and dismount the drive in USB mode is a bit more straight forward if you're a novice.

Bought this for my Xbox one first one I got was defective lost connection after 24 hr and keep dropping replacement works great load time are improved and plenty of storage space only down fall is it doesn't Wake up until you first access it so initial load is little delayed but once your on its fast

So far, the drive has worked well with my Linux desktop. High-quality enclosure and flexible connectivity options.For what it's worth, mine came with a Hitachi drive inside.

Awesome. 3TB at a great price. Plug and play set up. Using it on my cable tv system to record a ton of shows.

Working as expected, great!

Using it connected to a cable DVR to expand recording space. The unit works perfectly. Once connected the system saw it, formatted it and uses the added space.
