Good autobiography but no help for stroke recovery
I bought this book mainly as I thought it would contain some useful tips on recovering from a stroke. I found it quite well written from the point of view of an autobiography, especially if she wrote it largely without help from a professional ghost writer, and she has certainly had an interesting life, but really no help in indicating how she recovered from the stroke. As an aside, I wonder if she had heard of Sophia Loren s view that Mistakes are the price of an interesting life.

Honest and outspoken.
I appreciate Sharon Stone’s honesty in the book but personally I found it difficult to enjoy.

Well written
The opening chapters of this book hold you and carry you forward. Sharon tells her story from her personal view point. She is a star that is just as star struck as the rest of us.

Thoughtful and frank but not enough movie revelations.
I had no idea about Sharon Stones near death experience and her recovery process kept me engaged: I was hoping to read more about her film career and associated behind the scenes interaction with fellow co stars and there are short interesting segments about Total Recall, Casino and Basic Instinct, but I really would have liked more along these lines. There’s allot about her making peace with her demons and reassessing her life goals and her commendable charity work. It’s certainly candid and shows how the Hollywood movie machine expected attractive females to look good and improve on screen chemistry with male leads by sleeping with them. Sharon clearly didn’t tow the line in this respect and kept her integrity and thus earned the label of being difficult by the male dominated movie business at the time. All in all I would have preferred more movie anecdotes but I can understand how she was trying to focus more on the second chapter of life and how it enabled her to establish a new connection with her mother, her life and her inner self.

A brilliantly written tale of stardom and a of a life well lived
I've always admired Sharon Stone, at first for her beauty and acting talents - those brilliant movies which I absorbed, ,and then I'd watch her in interviews and think she was so fantastic, so articulate, so intelligent. I felt a kin with her. Reading this tragic, astounding, heart breaking and heart warming book, I feel like we're very similar souls. The book was brilliantly written and scarily honest, a lot of details of illness didn't sit well with me cos I have a weak stomach, but I battled through, and I look up to Sharon. This is not only a book of the #MeToo generation. But it does cover a lot of her experiences in family life and the industry regarding it. To me, Sharon Stone is the last goddess movie star, beautiful, bold and a broad (Pfeiffer sits well with her, though Sharon had to claw her way up) and she's a genius (literally) this is a fascinating book and I only hope I have the strength to continue being as strong and brave as she has been. Recommend to women who have been through abuse, men who have also been through similar things, and fans of the fabulous Sharon Stone. I'd love to get to meet her one day. Fingers crossed xx

a very insightful and interesting life, quite a surprise read, I had to finish it. Loved it!
Loved reading about Sharon’s life journey. How surprisingly interesting it was, to hear about all the terrible things her family went through but through the overriding love of her immediate family and the strength they all displayed individually and jointly, they were able to come to face the bad, sad things and make the colour of their life’s canvas joyous and vibrant. Would certainly recommend to any of you life-thinkers!

Gutsy and kind
I knew very little about Sharon Stone prior to reading this book, by the end of it I felt I knew her very well. She really is someone who has had to swim upstream all her life. From the unkind classmate who slapped her across the face and the tough and at times harrowing details of her childhood, she comes across as a sensitive soul who has survived and blossomed in spite of the odds. True resilience.
