Bohnanza is about planting, trading, and selling beans - 11 kinds of beans. Players try to collect large sets of beans to sell for gold. There is limited growing space and always new beans to plant. To avoid planting unwanted beans, players trade them to other players who want them for their bean fields.With the Pirates expansion, Bohnanza goes to sea. With Bohnanza, when players harvested beans they immediately sold them for gold coins. With Pirates, players may load their harvested beans onto ships which will deliver them to other markets for higher profits. However, there are pirates on the sea and they lie in wait in their pirate ships to capture the cargoes of merchant ships carrying beans. Ladies is quite similar to Bohnanza, but gentleman and lady beans have different Beanometers within the same bean type; and baby beans have no Beanometer at all. When harvesting a field, the Beanometer showing on the top-most card (last card played) in the field is the one used for earning gold coins from the harvest. As lady Beanometers give higher payoffs than gentleman Beanometers, players should try to harvest when a lady bean is on top. Also, note that baby beans have no Beanometer, yielding no gold coins when on top of a harvested field. High Bohn Plus Bohnaparte is three expansions is one box. Unrest in Beanland. Bean princes in all parts of the land are trying to conquer foreign villages and cities. They use the profits from their bean sales to finance their attacks. At the end of the game, gold coins have no value. Instead, players only score the lands they control as victory points. This expansion adds game variants and two new bean types. With High Bohn, the players may spend their gold coins on buildings located in Virginia City. These building have attributes that give the players new tactics for winning. The Plus part of this expansion adds order cards which allow players to earn extra gold coins when they can fill very specific orders.
