This comes with the 1 battery already installed and you just need to plug in the wire inside the battery compartment and it turns on and stays on. I have this temperature reader in my room since it runs hotter upstairs and I was able to put the outdoor temperature sensor outside my window and still lock the window. Now we know how hot it really is upstairs compared to the whole house thermostat. I've always wanted one of these so I'm happy I finally made the purchase. It is easy to switch from Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Useful temp and humidity meter.
I got this item to specifically test humidity upstairs in my house to compare what my security camera was showing for humidity (which did not seem) right, to get a more accurate reading. this device worked very well and gave me quick and accurate reading s to better check my temp and humidity throughout the house to help more evenly adjust the airflow via vents and returns to distribute the AC and maximize de-humidification and temp control through out the house for maximize comfort. This is a very useful device for this.

Nice accurate mini weather station.
I purchased this hygrometer thermometer combo after we had a huge disaster with out egg incubator. The temperature and humidity ratings were different from what was displayed on the actual incubator. We lost about 40 very expensive chickens. I learned my lesson that day- as the saying goes "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". I got this second thermometer as a "second opinion" so to speak. It has a probe that easily fits into the hole in the top of the incubator so I don't have to open the unit to check it. It has a nice big readout so I can look at it at a glance to check the humidity and temperature. I also have a regular mercury thermometer in the unit itself and this product is way more accurate than the incubators readout. Hopefully I will never have another tragedy like I did last time. This is a perfect unit for my needs, but it would also come in handy if you have a greenhouse or if you simply want to know the temperature outside. Just mount the probe outside a window and place the readout where it is convenient to see.
