Black Leather Sheets for Crafts Tooling Leather Square 1.8-2.1mm Thick Full Grain Leather Pieces Genuine Cowhide Leather for Crafts Sewing Hobby Workshop 6"x12"

I've been doing more small craft projects, and sometimes I don't need a huge piece of leather just to experiment with an idea. This 6" x 12" vegetable-tanned leather sheet gives me enough material for smaller projects without leaving me with a large amount of expensive leather I may not use. At approximately 1.8–2.1mm thick, the full-grain cowhide has enough substance for projects where I want the leather to hold its shape while still being manageable to cut and work with. One of the advantages of vegetable-tanned leather is the ability to customize it. It can be useful for tooling, stamping, carving, dyeing, and other leathercraft techniques, making a piece like this particularly good for experimenting with different designs. The smaller dimensions also make it nice for practice. If I'm trying a new stamp, dye, or technique, I'd much rather learn on a 6" x 12" sheet than discover my mistake halfway through a much larger and more expensive piece of leather. Obviously, check the dimensions carefully before ordering because this isn't intended for large projects. For smaller leather goods, decorative pieces, patches, practice work, or other crafts, though, it's a convenient amount of material. Leatherworking has taught me one important lesson: practice on the small piece first. The leather remembers every mistake even when I'd prefer to forget it.

Exactly as described, and it got here fast. I needed this sheet of leather to use to cut out some washers for a friend's easel that was slipping, and it worked perfectly. The quality of this leather is overkill for this application, but I still have most of it left and will probably find a use for it. It is nice. You can cut it easily with a good pair of scissors, but it's still very durable.

Great quality & finish. Purchased multiple times. A little linty on the edges when cut in a hand press with steel rule dies. A little tokonol cleans up the edges easily.

Please be advised, this is genuine leather, not full grain. The title says full grain, but is actually a leather product. Size is correct, color is correct, limited odor. Still, the stuff works for what I need it to, so have your four stars.

I needed to make vest extenders for the side of my vest, since more layers in winter time is necessary on a motorcycle, and I didn’t have any room to spare once zipped up. These sheets are very soft/flexible. I had no issue cutting or getting grommets into it. It held up very well during an 8 hour ride/2 day trip that included lots of rain, and I have zero concern that it will give me any issue going forward. It’s not super shiny, so it doesn’t look cheap to me. What I would consider the “inside” is soft; I’m unsure if it transfers color, since I wore it with dark clothes (my red shirt was fine). My vest is already very worn and broken in, so it’s not concerning to me, but I can see how it would show marks easily, especially on brown…but I got black, so don’t take my word for it. (My video is after the 8 hour ride&weekend in the rain. I rubbed it to show no transfer. Scratched it with my nail, then wiped off the mark it made.)

Very nice leather which cut well in my laser cutter. I made a raven hair pin with it as my first project. Hard to see in photos of all black items but the details cut out nicely. The leather is a great thickness for the hair pin too. Not too thick so you can manipulate it but not thin enough to be be flimsy. All I had to do to get it to lay flat in my laser cutter was work it the opposite way from how it was rolled and it laid perfectly flat, Will purchase again. Very pleased.

It keeps staining every surface it comes in contact with. So, so much black dye everywhere.

good leather, works well for tooling. I purchased this leather for tooling wallets, however it had a very strong smell, and I had to air it out. not sure if this is from the packaging, or why it smells like this, but it worked well for my projects.
