I loved this movie and found the boyfriend, Laird Mayhew to be a very likable character
Reading the reviews, I see several people were upset with the "graphic language." It's rated R for "strong language and sexual material throughout." They knew what they were renting/buying so that's on them. Laird, despite being ridiculously wealthy, is a genuine, honest, and thoughtful person. I found him to be completely delightful. Yes, there's a bit of predictability, sophomoric humor, sexual antics, and there's a lot of general silliness, but it's a comedy: An R rated comedy. I saw it in the theaters and I bought a copy to watch from time to time. I find it to be a real spirit lifter (which comes in really handy these days). If you want a silly laugh with some charming, wholesome characters, this should be a good fit. If you're offended by F-bombs, sexual innuendo, and 1500 gallons of elk piss (it's part of an art piece), you're not going to like it.

Perfect Fratboy Comedy
Rating movies on Amazon is a weird venture to me. Ultimately I think the product review should put weight a movie review. Did features picture, and sound quality. That being said if you’re not a fan of low brow humor this movie won’t work for you. It’s crass and tasteless, and the perfect comedy for most guys. I think fans of Bryan Cranston are likelyTo check this out just because of breaking bad. Fact is I bought it because it’s absolutely hysterical in a frat boy kind of way. Great movie to watch is the girlfriend or wife is out of the house. As I said, not off the table for most unless your looking for a more sophisticated humor.

Funny and enjoyable even if the language makes me uncomfortable sometimes
The movie was goofy, but that was expected, and it did deliver on the laughs. The cameos are also fun and one of the best parts of the movie. It is definitely very inappropriate for children. Even though I did not watch this with my young kids (of course!), being a parent has made me more sensitive to 'bad' language and cheesy American-piesque humor so I did cringe at various points, which I think is actually intended...

Why Him?
I watched an "edited" version of this movie on a flight recently and it was hilarious. However, the unedited version is even more hilarious. Now, if you're offended by "foul" language, this movie is not for you. I was laughing out loud on the plane and other passengers wanted to know what I was watching so they could laugh too. Soon, there were about 20 of us watching it and laughing out loud. I loved that part. Laughing is so good for all of us. If you're ok with "language" and get over that, there are so many things that are funny in this movie!

Worth a rental
3.5 stars. Funny movie, imo. Yeah, there is a good amount of cussing but it kinda complemented the situation. I enjoyed it for a rental ,given I went into the deal not expecting to think too strenuously. I was actually so happy that it was not a remake or a sequal !! The dad was well casted, and the son acted perfectly for his intended role of The Good Traditional Son who meets Laird . Overall, relax, be ready for a few f bombs and go with it. The message is what matters overall.

Funny, easy to watch.
I mean, you know what you're getting yourself into when the preview of the movie has someone with a Christmas card tattooed on their back... i feel like i cant give it a low rating because i signed up for it! Good to watch when you just feel like being brainless and dont have the attention span to watch something in depth. Definitely a few funny parts!

cringe
If you like to cringe at virtually every line in a movie and like over the top acting, this is for you. For us, not so much.

Why was this movie made?
This movie had it's moments, very, very few moments, but overall it seemed too contrived and badly improvised. It as if they just thought throwing a few talented people together with a loose plot would somehow work. It doesn't. Cranston and Franco are both disappointing. Cranston doesn't seem to be able to sell his character or know how he supposed to act, I mean, I appreciate him not going all 'Meet the Fockers' on us, but he didn't seem as if he was into to his role at all. Apparently Franco thought this was a sequel to Pineapple Express and probably spent more time cashing the check than developing his character. In the end, the plot was stupid and too contrived beyond entertaining. I won't watch this movie again unless I'm paid to and I won't take less than $100, as long as I can fall asleep.
