I am using this to keep mud and bugs and birds out of an AC drain line spout at the edge of my yard. Due to the fact that the spout was not threaded, I had to spend an hour or so sanding down the threaded part of the strainer interior so that I could easily get it on and off the spout, but now that that is finished it's working perfectly for my purposes.

Depending on where you live - it may be a good idea to put a protective screen over your condensate drain outlet to prevent insects and small things like tadpoles from climbing up and clogging it.When you add a 3/4" threaded adapter (any hardware store) this is a simple and easy solution to protecting your hvac drain outlet. Can be easily removed (just unscrew it) case you need to flush the drain

Just what I needed

We live in Florida. Had a snake get in the house that must have crawled up the A/C water drain line. Glued a fitting to the end of the drain line so this screen could be screwed on, and no more snake intrusion. Local pest control service thought it was a great idea.Should be marketed with the fitting to attach to a A/C drain and sold as a pest control (snake) preventative system.Awesome product for an alternate use!

I’ve been using this for my garden irrigation system suction hose . Works fine to keep debri away from pump impeller, doesn’t seem to affect pump flow. thread fits standard garden hose fitting , yes I recommend this strainer.
