Start off a step ahead
My 12 year old son loved this tongue in cheek look at problems with disorganization and how to correct some habits before 7th grade. He was the child described in the book with the school planner that had one or two things written in it and papers falling out of his backpack! He has taken ownership of creating binders that work for him based on the author suggestions. He has created his workspace, made use of many of the websites the author directed him to and feels like he has a basis for organizing his time and work this year. This was just what we needed to get Mom off his back and for him to claim the responsibility.

As a retired educator, I used this book with my grandchildren and loved it!
The examples and overall information are excellent!

Terrific support tool
Using this with my smart, but scattered grandson. The assessment is fabulous. I gave it to the child and his parents. Food foe a powerful conversation that helped them set realistic expectations. It additionally got the child’s attention as to the problem. The content is clear, concise and helped focus goal setting, monitoring and expectations concretely.

Some good info if you can handle lots of wasted pages of goofy "fluff"
There was good information in here, but also a lot of "fluff." My 13 year old son and I read through the entire book together this summer (before he enters 7th grade, after being homeschooled for several years) and did all of the exercises -- and though I think he learned a number of beneficial things, we were both constantly rolling our eyes at the stupidity of the "fluff." This book takes dumbing-down to a whole new low! A book we have found to be far, far more helpful -- and just CHOCK full of organizational and study-habit info -- is "Learning to Learn" by Gloria Frender (Incentive Publications 2014).

a must have to prep a 4th or 5th grader for M.S.!
One of my best resources! It covers it all in a fun way. It uses funny comic strips to introduce the new topics. The kids were laughing hysterically. If you are a teacher to a 5th grade class this is great to teach at the end of the year. If you're aparent of a 5th grader this is a great gift toreview with your child. I am a school counselorat a K -8 School. I slimmed it down and taught 81 hour lessons from this workbook to the three5th grade classes. The teachers and parentsloved it and so did all the kids!

Excellent
I wish I had found this book earlier. My daughter struggles with organization and her grades suffered because of it. I bought this because it looked like a fun way for her to learn without being too preachy and more importantly she is able to follow along with the podcast. So far she likes listening and following along with the classroom antics and trying to figure out which student portrays her. I'm going to work with her this summer. I'll write a follow after school begins and she can put what she learns into pratice.

This is very kid friendly.
This is very kid friendly. Used it to introduce 6th grade students to middle school and the "rights" and "wrongs"

Great informational book for Middle School!
Perfect book for my daughter who is starting middle school! There's enough humor mixed in to keep it interesting, and plenty of helpful tools and information that really will help get her off to a great start at school!
