There's so much you can do with shiitake mushrooms - their meaty texture and juicy unctuousness makes me so happy. Throw them into a stir fry, add them to your eggs, put them on toast, try them in pasta - they are versatile and tasty. Drop these in boiling water and use the water as a stock for mushroom pasta or rice. So why have I docked a star for this? Because it's expensive. Maybe a bit too expensive for the amount of pieces in here.

Ordered this thinking it being of Chinese origin it would be different to what is available locally. Have not used it yet but visually this is not the case.

If you like Bombil fish then you may like it. Nothing wrong with vendor or packaging.But go for regular fresh mashroom which is cheap and way tasty. I boiled it, rinse all water make them attractive and dry. But when it cooked, it again soaked all water and got swelled. It looked like fish curry to me. It was bit repulsive too. I could not dare to finish it.

You have to boil and wash it severaltimes before you can add to dish.

The packaging is very convenient. Good dehydrated Shiitake. Swells to a nice size once soaked or boiled and retains that umami flavor.
