Inside Words

I wanted to give this 4.5 starts because I really, really like it and recommend it, but there is one thing I would like more of.I attended one of Janet Allen's workshops and she is a wonderful educator and facilitator. I thought I had all her books until I enrolled in an online course for vocabulary instruction and this was the required text. I love everything about this book. The exercises are timely and fun; the examples are relevant and cross-curricular. I especially like the accompanying CD with the graphic organizers in English *and* Spanish. The only thing the book lacks--the one thing I would like more of--are student samples. I would like to see the organizers in use by students.

I purchased this book as part of my requirements for a graduate school class. Three weeks after this class and I am still thumbing through this book and designing lessons with the tools listed in this book. I've also bought two more of Janet Allen's books. What I love about this text is that I can use the different tools Allen shares with any level of text for my students. I am so excited to add more Allen books to my collection.

Had to purchase this textbook for a masters course. It provided a lot of activities to incorporate teaching vocabulary, text comprehension, etc. Definitely usable. I don't think I'll be keeping this text however, because I'm a choral music director. That does not mean I can't use the lessons and concepts in the book. I just think someone in a core classroom may find it more useful.

This is a nice book with excellent examples. I won't say it is the best book I have ever used for reading instruction but good none the less.The purchase was flawless. I received the book in a timely manner in the condition described.

This is a great book for beginning teachers. It provides excellent resources and tools.

Got it for work. It's got some good ideas. Bought 3 books. It wasn't the best one but it shipped the fastest. LOL

Very good collections of graphic organizers and good discussions on how to use them. I use this with my students every day.
