Monarchs and Grandchildren
Kylee & I have been friends for 38 years but that's not why this book gets 5 stars. Even with a long & very close friendship we don't see eye to eye on everything. Because I know her so well I can speak of her passion for writing this book. Her knowledge & beautiful photography is beyond compare in this book as she tackles a project 110%. Kylee puts her heart & soul into everything she does & this book is a wonderul display of that. It is because of Kylee that in 2015 my 5 grandchildren, who were 10, 9, 8, 7 & 5 at the time, were able to experience the life of 30+ Monarchs in my home. We brought in the eggs that we found, watched them hatch, grow as we fed them, shed their skin to form the chrysalis not to mention bringing in milkweed leaves & cleaning out frass/poop routinely in the aquariums. How wonderful that each of my grandchildren experienced seeing the Monarchs emerge and those precious memories are captured on video for them. I gave each child's family this book for Easter as it relates to each of us becoming a New Creatioin in Christ. Tthe Monarch is an amazing visual example of this. How blessed we all are to have this book remindimg us of memories made in seeing nature at it's best.

The Monarch: Saving Our Most-Loved Butterfly
Kylee's enthusiasm for the beautiful monarch is contagious AND inspirational!!!"The Monarch: Saving Our Most-Loved Butterfly" was not only an enjoyable read, with BEAUTIFUL pictures, but it has continued to be my go to reference source. I not only learned about THE monarch, I was introduced to an entirely fascinating world of helping save them. I honestly ordered this book in hopes of learning how to identify eggs, raising caterpillars and releasing monarchs...it taught me there is so much I can do to help. A few years ago I didn't know the value of milkweed..today..I encourage it's growth. I no longer plant flowers just because I think they're pretty, I now plant to bring all the pollinators to my yard. :)Thank you for helping educate me, Kylee.

what an amazing new find
Holy Monarch! I had no preconceived notions about another book on butterflies, but this one caught my eye. what an amazing new find, surely destined to become a classic text on these beloved butterflies. it's exhaustively researched, beautifully photographed, and never boring. Truly urge you to purchase AND USE this handbook, it will be well-thumbed before you know it.

What a great resource for anything related to the Monarch and it's ...
Outstnding job Kylee. Obviously a lot of work, heart and soul in the production of the "The Monarch". What a great resource for anything related to the Monarch and it's cousins! As I read through it, I was reminded of numerous articles in the National Geographic magazine that I have taken for so many years. Like you, they cover so many important environmental subjects and if I remember correctly a number of years ago they did an article on the Monarch. Thanks for sharing your passion and another great reminder that we need to preserve our environment. I know I could be considered prejudiced, but I still think I can be objective when I say how much I enjoyed the book and how proud I am of my citizen scientist" niece. Congratulations on a job well done!Uncle Bob

Love this book!
Kylee's dedication to and passion about the monarch is contagious! I'm a landscape designer and avid gardener, and until I saw Kylee posting about the monarchs last year, I hadn't really paid much attention to pollinators in my own garden. So I couldn't wait for this book to come out -- and it's every bit as engaging, educational and encouraging as Kylee's blog and social media posts. I've even given it as a gift to one of my design clients whose one directive to me as a designer was to "attract butterflies." The writing is superb, the content is spot-on, and the photographs are amazing. Thank you, Kylee, for encouraging so many of us to protect this butterfly!

Outstanding Photos and Text About Our Beloved Monarch
I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Kylee at the Lurie Garden, in Chicago, when she was on a Garden Writers of America tour. I found her to very friendly and full of passion and knowledge about the monarch. I could not wait to get home and order her book as I felt it continued our shared monarch experience and then empowered me to continue exploring the topic and eventually raising over 40 of my own butterflies this summer. It has been a most joyful experience. Her book is beautiful in so many ways. It would make a lovely gift but treat yourself first!

Are you ready to help the Monarch butterfly
I purchased the MONARCH – Saving Our most-Loved Butterfly by Kylee Baumle. The hard bound book is about 8 ¼” x 8 ¼”. There is 159 pages of beautiful photographs. The book is intended to show you ways to participate in avoiding the decline of the Monarchs. Chapter 1 is short but explains how interest began. Chapter 2 identifies the Monarch and its lifecycle. Chapter 3 explains other caterpillar or butterflies which are similar. Chapter 4 covers the migration south. Chapter 5 details the perils. Chapter 6 offers options on how you can help. Chapter 7 explains the host and nectar plants. Ten milkweed are listed in detail but more information in the appendix. Chapter 8 talks about the predators with photos of each. Chapter 9 approaches the question if the Monarch is in danger of extinction. The last section are ways to help. The Appendix covers more information to reference. This book is easy to follow. If you are a novice this has the information you need to get started in building interest in raising Monarchs, milkweed and nectar.
