Not as advertised
These do NOT come with 1/2 inch PVC fittings. They are a flimsy piece of thin plastic that will NOT fit over or under 1/2 PVC or any other plumbing product readily available. This is very misleading and has the potential to throw a wrench in your whole planning/ preparation of your project. To say this is frustrating is a understatement especially when you live out in the country far from town and the logistics of putting a project together can be tedious . This is the second order of these that have come with parts different than advertised. My bad for being stupid enough to give them the benefit of the doubt and just thinking the first order was a mistake. Bottom line with this review is I am extremely disappointed and I do NOT recommend purchasing these unless you want to end up making multiple trips to the post office and hardware store to rectify their false product description. Very unprofessional and a huge waste of something precious- your time and energy

Slick! Chickens & pigeons are happy!
These are great. I have a combo pigeon/chicken coop/loft. Both groups of birds were making a mess of their water and the pigeons often knocked theirs over using standard waterers. It seemed I was cleaning or refilling daily. For summer I wanted something that had high capacity, was more likely to stay clean and also be low maintenance. These cups made that easy.I used 2 cups inside for chickens, 2 inside for the pigeons, and 1 outside. All are hooked up to a gravity feed 5 gallon bucket with spigot and short potable grade marine garden style hose that hooks into the PVC pipe manifold. I fill the bucket by hose as needed. For the rainy season I'll likely add a gutter to my coop roof to collect and fill the bucket. If my coop were closer I'd consider adding a hose with float valve system (think toilet tank) to fill the bucket automatically.I saw a few reviews that folks had cups that kept overflowing. I had one that did that. I opened up the valve and found a piece of PVC debris from cutting the pipe on the O ring that is essentially the gate in the valve. A quick cleaning and the valve functioned perfectly.

Technically it works, in Practice it fails miserably...
great idea, solid ingenuity...technically it works, but in actual use it fails sadly...now i am not sure if there is a issue with direct pressure or if there is a flaw in the design details that was overlooked.the chickens seem interested but the cups wont fill with water if the 'plunger' (for lack of a better term) is pushed down, or pecked at.the problem seems to be with the valve release itself, it can be pushed up with a little bit of force but the water gushes and full blast which just startles the chickens, funny but not productive...this needs a rethink on the design some detail is causes this to be all but useless currently, i will be messing around with other things to try with these later on, but this just does not work if you are planning on having enough chickens to need more water than what would be kept in a "normal" water feeder.there where (are) no instructions on water pressure limits or other information that says there needs to be any kind of regulation on flow...if i can get them to work i might come back and give an update (if i remember) about what might work...

Disappointed
The items that I received were not what was shown on the ad when I ordered them. The red drink cup is similar however the "PVC" fitting is not PVC. It is more like a thin flimsy plastic. Not sure how I am suppose attach the cheap plastic fitting to 1/2 inch PVC pipe. The pipe is too small for the fitting. May have to buy 3/4 inch PVC pipe. The cheap plastic fitting may fit over pipe. Perhaps use hose clamps to attach the fittings to the pipe. Definitely not the headache caused by the inconvenience of paying one thing and receiving another. I have always been satisfied with what I have ordered from Amazon in the past. This was a huge disappointment. Would not recommend this item.

Don't waste your money. Read my review!!!
These are the biggest piece of junk. The chicken has to PULL UP the yellow fever to get the water to fill the cup. If it pecks at it it gets very little ( I mean VERY LITTLE) water in the cup. It would take the chicken between 25-30 pecks to get a drink if they could every get one. Don't waste your money.

False advertising
The product description and pictures indicate this comes with pvc T’s which is false. The included T’s are some kind of flexible plastic but they’re not pvc. They are too big for 1/2 pvc pipe and to small for 3/4 pipe. They are completely useless! There is no way to seal these due to their size. They’re so thin they’re nearly translucent. False advertising of cheap junk. Very frustrating. Sending this junk back and reporting it to amazon.

I'm sure they will be very convenient for me and great for the chickens
My chickens are having a hard time working these. They have been installed for almost a week and they don't seem to be able to figure out how to get the water to come down. I'm giving them remedial training now.... However, the cups themselves are exactly as described and once the chickens figure it out, I'm sure they will be very convenient for me and great for the chickens. Fresh water is very important for egg laying chickens.

These work as described. The cup was a little difficult to attach to the pipe, but not impossible. It's definitely helped in keeping the water out of their bedding and always available for the chickens. These are a MUST have for chicken keepers.
