I wonder why he writes God the way he does in his prompts
The author gives a variety of prompt ideas, however, if you would like more sci-fi, mystical, magical then I would suggest buying a book on prompts that is directed towards those topics. There were a few that covered the "weird" which is the heading the author places the supernatural, paranormal prompts but there isn't enough to satisfy writers who specifically write about those topics. I find it curious that the author types God as, G-d, if you love God, you may find this offensive, disrespectful and may not want to purchase the book even though there's not a lot of prompts that specifically mentions God..but still, just a heads up.

An ambitious creative endeavor
Author, Creativity Coach and Actor Bryan Cohen has taken the many lessons he learned from his acting days and crafted a gold mine of writing prompts for every imaginable occasion and age. As Bryan describes in his introduction, "the prompts include over 50 different subjects including holidays race, romantic comedy, childhood, prom and even the American Dream."Coming up with fresh, new ideas is a challenge for any writer. This writing resource book provides a wealth of ideas to pull from -both unique and universal. His introduction includes helpful information about writing in general as well as instructions on how to use the prompts. The writing samples on different ways to use the prompts enhance the information. The prompts range from the simple. " Best Halloween costume you've ever been in. Go through the entire process of creating it and the reactions of your peers" to the bizarre and mystical, "You see an actual ghost on Halloween! Not necessarily an angry one, but definitely a depressed ghost. How do you help him cope with death and his haunting afterlife?"Because the topics are categorized, one can easily find a prompt for many different occasions. He even devotes a section "For the Kids."His main message is to keep on writing and if you feel stuck, these 1000 creative prompts may help you find your way to your own creativity.Bryan's passion for writing and for helping others is evident in this ambitious creative endeavor. He wrote every prompt and you cannot help but feel your creative juices flowing when you read through them.I highly recommend this focused writer's resource book for anyone interested in finding ideas for their story.

Story Starters
I preface this review by making clear that I am writing for free on Amazon and as a way of helping me to understand various facets of life (although I have been confused for a paid reviewer in the past). With that out of the way, this kindlebook of 1,000 Creative Writing Prompts; Ideas For Blogs, Scripts, Stories and More by Bryan Cohen is a multi-faceted kindlebook to get whether a person is writing for creative writing therapy andor as a writer who aims to be published. Some of the writing prompts featured; birthdays, spring season, shining school achievement, college prompts (such as a class that changed your life), creative writing travel prompts (such as describing the best vacation you have been on and much more prompts available in this kindlebook). For me, having the creative writing prompts from this kindlebook by Bryan Cohen help remind of the vital advice given in Creative Writing by Simeon Lindstrom for a writer to broaden their creativity through the use of books, movies, and music that they normally would not view andor listen to.

Good writing tool for a tired brain!
I bought the paperback edition of this book in 2011 and have been using it randomly ever since. The prompts contain enough variety of ideas to meet every writer's needs some of the time. For my purposes, I find that certain of the themed prompts work better for me than others - comedy makes me go even more blank; the weird (go figure!) seem stir my imagination vigorously!Do not expect a book that tells you how to write - this is more a book that tries to stimulate your imagination enough to get your writing under your own steam. Nor is it a book you can sit & read through at one sitting - it's a book you dip into when you need help for a stale writing brain. But it is an excellent book to have on hand when you're too tired to think of fresh ideas for yourself but want to keep your writing arm well oiled by doing some writing - any writing! - every day.An interesting side effect of the prompts is that often I'd start writing on topic and then suddenly the story would veer off into a completely different direction. And there's nothing better than that feeling of the words flowing freely! :)

Brain Jogging
Writing is a passion that can be used in many different ways. For those who write for fun, for work, for a living, or for a purpose, they're all still writing. Creative writing can be the most fun and rewarding, yet frustrating in its own right when the words or ideas don't seem to be coming.I purchased this e-book to give me some small inspirations for my creative writing blog. I fell in love with the short, simple prompts, which were very open-ended and easy to interpret in many different ways. My girlfriend, who is an editor as well as a writer, also enjoyed reading this with me. We took a couple months and spent each day writing on the same prompt then comparing our stories. It was great fun! There were a few typos that I spotted, and in some places the formatting was confusing, but overall the layout is very simple and easy to follow. The prompts are separated into different categories, which can be useful if you're wanting to find a more narrow subject.I recommend this to people who either just need a 'brain jog', a baseline for ideas, or just want some extra brain food for their regular regime of writing exercises. It suits every type of creative writer, from the flash-fiction writer to the epic novelist.

definitely recommended
Hands up, I'm not a creative fiction writer.I'm a news journalist but run my own personal blog alongside the main site.On occasions I can hit a mental brick wall with regards to the days subject.I purchased 1,000 Creative Writing Prompts on a whim, hoping I might find just one or two 'golden nuggets' for those days when I was a little stumped.I found dozens upon dozens of ideas, and many more prompts that I could re-position to suit my own interests and that of my audience. In fact I was so impressed I started to wonder just how many of the 1,000 ideas I could use - enough to warrant a weekly column that could comfortably run for a couple of years.I would comfortably recommend this to any writer / blogger, if only for the excellent variety of subjects and suggestions that can be individually adapted to suit the reader.

Nice lot to choose from
There are enough suggestions here for me to start off quite a few sessions with my writing group, and it's no hardship to adapt them to suit our members.

Not very useful for plot lines, but could be a good starter activity
An okay book. Does include a selection of prompts, however many are not useful for actual plot lines. It could be used as a quick starter activity to get writing, however.
