Nice Little Reel and Storage Bag!
I have no space and live in an apartment so everything has to be rolled and stuffed into many tins and containers to store. These (size) worked out perfectly for me however...If you are purchasing this thinking that this will roll everything up nicely beware...you'll be lucky if you can get a 15 foot cord on each roll!?These are not designed to roll up 100 feet of lights onto 1 reel. There are 3 plastic reels in the bag that fit nicely into a popcorn tin.I used each reel to roll up a 25ft cord of lights. It fits nicely however...the light bulbs stick out past the reel and therefor negate the storage bag because they will not fit! This did not matter because I used the empty bag for all the remaining lights which by the way rolled up nicely inside of. I then took the plastic reels and placed them inside of (one of many) popcorn tins that I use for Christmas lights.I am only giving this 4 stars because of the construction of the bag and reels. They are cheap and not well made. I do not think these will last very long and already have begun to get more popcorn tins for storage under the assumption that these will break.

Directions? PHFT! Right...
I already had a similar item from Lowe's and knew these would be GREAT. They are. After all, what can you really say about a plastic reel to hold Christmas lights? They're sturdy, plastic, a bit smaller than expected (the Lowe's ones were slightly larger) and the bags matched. HOWEVER, Follow the directions on how to reel the lights! I know, you're thinking, "Just spin them on the reel, nothing to it!" You can, after all, they're yours. But, following the (cough) simple instructions of plugging the plug into the reel and wrapping the lights around saves a bit of, "HUH!?!" come Christmas time. I didn't do that last year! Simply wound them around the spool, shoved 'em in the bag and months later, yanked 'em out. Somehow, the invisible Martians or whomever in the attic found a way to tie all three reels together in the bag. Follow the directions!

Sturdy But a Bit Small
These light reels seem to be of decent quality. The plastic reels and the bag appear to be pretty sturdy. However, they're smaller than I expected. I have some that I purchased from Lowe's a few years ago that are bigger, and I thought these would be similar. The reels themselves are 2.5" thick, by 8.5" in diameter. The bag they come in is 8" tall by 10" in diameter. My guess is if you have 1-2 strands of 100-200 mini lights (possibly even 3 strands), they might fit on each reel. I have 2-3 sets of garland lights (400 per string) strung together (800-1200). They are no way gonna fit.I'll return these and try for some bigger reels.

Not so easy
It’s a reel for sure. Wrapping the lights on here was a sinch. Taking them off however is a completely different story. The next year I went to unwrap this, I’m pretty sure I threw it out the window before I got the lights unwrapped. I WANTED to use this while I was putting lights on the tree with the idea that it easily unravels. Maybe they need to send someone here to help demonstrate but it didn’t last the next year. I tossed it in the trash and threw them in a pile in the box like any good American.

Meh, sure, ok
Please look at the photos.Sometimes I think I should have purchased the other kind that go in a storage box. Other times, I just don't care. The kit only comes with three spools and I paid the same price at the kit to get two more plus shipping. That's the part I don't like. The bulb size dictates how many strings can fit in the spool. My C7's fit two but it was tight fit into the bag.I've had these for 3 years. One spool warped but was encouraged to bend back to be functional.

My bad
The product turns out to be as described, just not what I thought I was ordering. The reels and bag look identical to a set my mother owns, so I didn't read the description close enough. The reels are much smaller than hers. Each reel holds only two X 100 small light strings. I didn't notice anything in the description asking for small or large reels, and frankly, didn't realize there was a smaller size. The picture looks identical to my mothers set, and I expected it to be the same size. Shame on me, but I will read the size description closer on the next order.

Works great for regular cables as well.
I purchased this to wind up long LAN cables with that I use on occasion. I found one reel will hold 100' of CAT5e cable if wound somewhat neatly. Sturdy construction and nice thick bag are a plus. Speaking from experience, don't leave them in your car on a hot day or the plastic reels will deform. (D'oh!) They're still usable, just not as nice as new. Works great to store amateur radio coax too, as long as it's not much thicker than RG-8x. Oh, and unwinding is a breeze with a helper holding the reel with a long screwdriver pushed through the center hole.

This is small....Get the bigger sized one
This is the best and most efficient way to store Christmas lights. My wife says I put up too many, so I need a decent amount of storage for my exterior illumination kit at home. This one is small, so get the bigger one.My wife says I cross the line between nice and tacky, I say more lights is better! We got over 1000 up this year and I'll be getting more when they go on sale, you can bet your ass on that!
