It’s a great webcam for the price. It was delivered in adequate packaging to protect it and the simple instructions are clear. I use it for video meetings so mostly images of people. I sometimes hold up pictures or a document in front of the camera and the recipients can see them clearly. Here’s a few things I found out: PROS -Easily attached to the laptop screen with the hinged clamp. It’s held firmly in place. -No setup required. Just plug in the USB into your computer. Video apps detected it automatically. It works like that on Mac and Windows 10 PC. -The image is sharp and a good wide angle so can capture several people sat in a room. The image doesn’t appear to be distorted but there maybe a slight fisheye effect. -The focus ring on the lens is useful to sharpen the image if you are very close or much further away than normal. -The red light on the front is a useful indicator that the camera is active. (Most built-in cameras have similar) -The webcam mic sends clear audio (but see below) -It looks well made and the price is very reasonable for this type of webcam. -Wansview Customer Service was very responsive and helpful. CONS -On the MacBook Pro, some USB adaptor cables (not made by Apple) don’t allow the webcam USB plug to insert sufficiently to connect. It’s easily fixed using a different adaptor or short extension cable. -The webcam mic is a bit quieter than the built-in one. It’s not a problem for normal use. -The image seems to put a slight red hue my face. It’s not a problem for normal use. I would recommend it if you need a webcam with a wide angle at a reasonable price.

I was looking to get an HD web cam back when Zoom, etc, started becoming the norm for meetings and chats. I didn't want to pay the price the likes of Logitech wanted (although I do like their products) for a HD cam that I wouldn't use that often. I ordered this as it seemed to fit requirements and wasn't overly expensive, although it is significantly less now! On delivery I connected the camera and it seemed to connect OK. However, I have to be honest I wasn't overly impressed, to the extent that I preferred my Logitech 720p cam or built in laptop cam to this. So, it never actually got used for any calls. I tried various things to see if I could get better results in the months since and eventually got to a point where the camera didn't function at all. All I got was a flashing white screen. Without much hope I emailed Wansview to see if there was a known problem or if there was some solution to the issues I was experiencing. After a short exchange of emails it was agreed they would send me a replacement. This came very quickly and, I am pleased to say, the new one seems to function well. The picture is better, both in clarity and colour balance, and the built in mic is much more responsive. I have concluded the original was faulty. In conclusion then, I would say the camera is a good quality budget camera suitable for occasional use. For a more professional use I would suggest you might want to look elsewhere. The customer service has been brilliant though. I cannot fault the response to my emails and the speed of delivery of the replacement (and I haven't had to send back the original). From this perspective I would say it is a fairly risk free purchase.

I am guessing the sales of webcams have skyrocketed over the past year, since lockdown has led to more people working from home and families & friends meeting up virtually via zoom etc.. The traditional PC webcam has not been something many people will have considered purchasing, other than social media content creators etc, as most laptops, phones and tablets have camera's built in for years now. I like to use my main desktop PC for work and meetings, as it's more comfortable than trying to balance a laptop on my knee or hold a phone or tablet up for the duration of a meeting, so I needed a traditional webcam to allow me the use of online meetings on this computer. I was reading reviews of many higher priced devices, and was initially thinking I would have to spend in the £100-150 range, until I saw this and decided to give it a go. Set up is as easy as plugging into a free USB port and balancing the thing on top of the monitor. My antivirus initially blocked access (BitDefender) but after configuring it to allow app access to the webcam, all was ready to go. I tested with the zoom app and also with the windows 10 built in 'Camera' app, and it works well, and is functioning at LEAST at 30fps, it seems like more to me though. The quality is typical standard HD 1080p, and is MORE than good enough for web based meetings...who wants to be pumping 4k video down to people who may have slow broadband connections anyway, the quality would suffice for anyone unless streaming via Twitch or online vlogging etc... A small red light on the front illuminates when the camera is in use, I would have preferred a little physical flap to fold down when not in use, as you see on some other webcams, but it's certainly not a deal breaker at this price, and its as easy as just unplugging the usb cable if you are concerned about privacy when not in use. There isnt really much more I can say about this device, and will have to report back if longevity is a problem, but at present, from a PC and tech enthusiast, all I can say is why pay more, when you can have a perfectly functional device like this for a fraction of the cost of others. Have fun and stay safe :-)

Picked up this camera for my hobby into YouTube and Live streaming. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the camera, it's focus and colour output. For work, this camera is great for jumping into a zoom call and having a live chat, the colour pops out but can be a little to bright if you're using it from factory settings. The footprint is small and the bezel is easy enough to attach to your device/screen for you to comfortably set it up without needing any assistance. The lens is wide angle but not so much that it extorts the image. Finally, if you're not using another device for sound, the webcam will work perfectly fine for work need and social catch-ups. You will need to work with a microphone of better quality if you want to use it professional or for any hobbies.

I needed a new webcam and so thought I’d try the Wansview 1080p webcam, as I already have a Wansview security camera which I’m very pleased with, and the Wansview support is terrific. Although you probably won’t need it. The only time I did need support it was actually all my fault – the security camera I had purchased from Wansview was switched off for a few months while doing some building work in that area, and when I re-installed it I had forgotten my password and I didn’t know how to reset the camera because I’d thrown the instructions away. DOH! And even though I was quite rude in my e-mail to Wansview (my bad), they responded immediately and dealt with my problem and got me up and running straight away. So, for that reason alone, I will always be confident buying Wansview items. Back to the Wansview 1080p webcam review. It’s a great little webcam, it was delivered in one day with Amazon Prime, and it was super easy to install. I’m running Windows 10 and I just hung the webcam on top of my monitor, plugged in the USB lead, which is nice and long, and it immediately showed up on my screen using the Windows 10 Camera app. So, from opening the box, until seeing my image on the screen, it took about 20 seconds in total. There is no need to read any instructions, just simply take it out of the box and plug it in – that’s it! The picture is very sharp and clear, much much clearer than my old Microsoft webcam, which is a LifeCam HD-3000 and it has a wider field of vision (I didn’t realise how fuzzy the old webcam image was until I got this new webcam). The Wansview webcam does have a slight fish-eye effect at the edges – this is probably due to the wider field of vision. It’s much brighter than my previous Microsoft webcam, and the automatic light compensation doesn’t keep changing like my Microsoft webcam tended to do most of the time. The image is just consistently lit at the same clear level and doesn’t keep going brighter or darker, although if you want to manually change that you can, but all the default settings are absolutely OK. The photo quality is good, 2.1MP 16:9 (1920 x 1080), and the video recording is good, 1080p 16:9 30fps with voice pickup via the built-in mic, although I did have to adjust the Windows volume settings for the Camera app to pick up my voice, but then again I had to do exactly the same thing with the Microsoft webcam to pick up my voice using the Windows Camera app. However, the mic picked up my voice very clearly when using the Skype for Business app on my PC without any intervention required. I think there may be an issue with the actual Windows Camera app when recording audio (its’ quieter than when using Skype), because it was the same for both the Microsoft webcam and the Wansview webcam – I need to investigate that further. All in all, I’m very happy with this easy to use Wansview 1080p webcam, it’s perfect for use with Skype for Business, which is the main reason I purchased it for, and I have no problem in recommending this webcam.
