Cruise, who just turned 7, thinks that this is some kind of doggy Crack. Her Vet is estatic.
Cruise, who just turned 7, thinks that this is some kind of doggy Crack. Her Vet is estatic. Cruisen the Yorkie, started life at a grave disadvantage.Although Purebred AKC, (she was born on my mom's kitchen floor), her real home life at the "breeder's" house was abysmal, full of loud multiple doggie relatives who had to compete for food & the food fed to her parents & multiple aunts & uncles was whatever was on sale or even worse. She survived early puppy hood as an only puppy, being shuttled between mom's smoke free, clean home to have to return to a house, that I most certainly would not, & because of severe allergies to smoke, filth & dander, could not enter, much less stay in.The poor thing was forced to eat little Caesar's dinners with no kibble at the beginning. The containers of which, if not rinsed before dumping in the garbage, developed maggots within 2 days of being open & in the garbage, like as not. No lie.Your first or third attempt to open a garbage pail to take the contents outside to the trash, where the contents are moving, have eyes, & suddenly can be found writhing all over the kitchen floor on certain mornings, is the LAST time you want your small dog ingesting that specious expensive crap, no matter how cute the ads are.By the time that we found that the breeder had rebred a breeder defect into a dog simply because it made a beautiful dog, & got the operation to save her little life, plus her spaying against the breeder's wishes...Cruisen was a precarious 3; she was the plucky but frail dog who puked pretty much all of everything they fed her & either got plugged up or worse, diarrhea, & then would get low blood sugar. The LAST STRAW FOR ME was when I found out that the "breeder companion" was Cheating on the puppy's dose of Trifexis every other month, by using mom to pay for her other dog's doses while giving Cruisen not quite half a pill which is NOT the dose to save from heart worm.... A HORRIBLE LIFE.They would STARE at her while she would try to eat, which has created a lifelong fear of being watched while eating...something I also developed in that household, so I understand.I still contend that this woman caused my mother's death.... but what she's done to dogs in the name if breeding, she should be branded on the internet.Poor Cruisen was well loved but not well taken care of. My mother's failing health meant that the dog was a blessing to her, but she couldn't do for the dog during the week, what I did for the dog during the weekends.Well an introduction to her Vet, presenting my herbalist's 31 years of credentials & a frank discussion about nutrition for & my formulas of Tinctures for dogs & people fixed all that.I got the Vet's blessing to change Cruise's diet, & at least on weekends, until I got Cruise rather permanently in Nov of 2013; she settled into a routine of BLUE products & a whole pulled rottisierie chicken from Sam's club, re roasted for 2 hours at 350, & then pulled with rubber gloved hands to protect against contamination. I also changed how she got the chicken on top of the kibble, 1oz at a time, on top of a quarter cup of dried kibble. That way, if she ate the smaller amount of chicken & then ran to bark at something exciting, she would not automatically barf.We tried several flavors & formulations of Blue until I found the Wilderness DUCK products. At first we tried Blue Chicken, then Turkey & sweet potatoes in some of the sensitive stomach formulas, but then we found the Duck Wilderness in the Green Foil bag at 4.5lbs & that was Love at First Bite. Now, She doesn't polish the bowl every night, but we just keep rotating the chicken on top, until two or three times a week, she polishes off the bowl.We leave fresh water down & she eats from an elevated bowl in a wrought iron feeding station, which sits in a bath of slightly chlorinated water to disabuse any ants trying to get into the bowls. Cruisen was sickly, tiny & frail until I basically got her, 5 months before her 4th birthday. She was still being fed Little Caesars on weekdays by the Jerk companion when I wasn't there to supervise or if I asked one of the revolving companions to pull the roast chickens that I would bring & re roast at the house. The hygiene of these people were such that if I wasn't there with sterile gloves to pull the chicken, place it in small bags, & place the bags in the fridge & freezer, the chicken would "turn" & no one would smell it & notice in time, which caused Cruise to be sick all over again. All that stopped as of Dec 2013. I found that the companion had charged mom for vaccinations & the ID chip that Cruise didn't get, right after finding out that she was charging mom for food that the companion hadn't bought & that she took home MOM's groceries for her own family. (this woman was overpaid for her services)SHE did this by using mom's failing eyesight against her. Both mom & Cruise were starving in mom's home. Mom went into the hospital right after Thanksgiving & basically never came back out.Cruisen moved to Gotha with us & we bounced between mom's home, the nursing home & our home while her home with mom underwent an extensive super cleaning program, then refurbishment & then a massive change into a rental house..Cruise has been eating Blue Wilderness Duck formula, plus a 4oz serving of chicken, broken into 1oz servings (so she doesn't excitedly bark & barf) of pulled roasted Chicken from Sam's Club which is re-roasted for at least 2 hours at home, prior to pulling with sterile gloves into a clean container.I can't emphasize the sterile glove deal when prepping a dog's food, which is why I won't feed her canned, frozen or fresh "dogfood" ever. There are NO REGULATIONS for pet food handling or how the ingredients are held until mixing. The change in the then 4 pound dog has been radical & magnificent, with some help from: non chlorinated or processed Well Water, plus helpers like nightly Plato Duck, Duck marketplace, Duck Thinkers sticks & Turkey /Sweet potato cookies, Teenie Greenies & ProSense Brewer's Yeast tablets (which negate hot spots, chase mosquitos from biting & keep coat & skin from itching & at their peak...)& weekly Plato Duck treats, BLUE Duck treats & a couple of CAT specific treats that she ADORES -we just say they are her "exotic" treats... Cruise has gone from sickly, bent posture, frail "teacup" 4lb dog with either loose bowels, upset stomach or puking every few days, to a sturdy, stocky but lithe 9.6 pound "Perfect little specimen of what an adult Yorkie should be" according to her Lifetime Vet in November of 2016.I credit Blue Wilderness Ducky Kibble with the Largest share of this transformation. I suggest it to pet owners constantly, along with the ProSense Brewer's Yeast & Teenie Greenies for hip & joint.

Great dogfood BUT THEY CHANGED THE INGREDIENTS
This used to be grain free and all meat, mostly salmon. Now it's full of grains and other fillers. I used the old formula with my dog for almost 10 years and now that they changed the formula it upsets my dog's stomach. They say no chicken bi-products, yet if you read the label there is clearly CHICKEN in this SALMON formula. it's misleading because some dogs are allergic to chicken.

Not Grain-Free
Our dog gets ear infections and horrible gas unless fed a grain free diet. Wilderness now has grains in it and we can’t find any formulas that are still grain free… not one. Now looking into different brands. If your dog does okay with grains your probably fine to feed this.

The search is over for my French Bulldogs!!
I have two french bulldogs. I have done absolutely everything to keep them healthy. One is nearly 12 the other 3 years old. My older dog was vomiting ALL the time and my younger one was chewing the pads of his feet apart and most recently, throwing up. I've been buying them premium dog food their whole lives or so i thought) and have added salmon oil and greens to their diet which did help with their coat and my older dog's hips/joints, but not their upset stomachs. I know that Frenchies have a very sensitive system but this was getting ridiculous! My oldest daughter recently got french bulldog puppy and put her puppy on a completely raw diet of "Stella and Chewy's". She swears by the frozen patties and wanted me to at least give it a try. Well, given that I live far away from the nearest pet store that sells raw/frozen food, I decided to research different premium foods that would be similar to raw. I came across Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain Free Dry Dog Food, Salmon Recipe, 24-Pound Bag here on Amazon, and after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. I wasn't sure because with the wolf on the cover I thought that maybe it was for larger breeds, but that's not the case AT ALL.After the past couple of months of having my Frenchies on this dog food ALL throwing up has ceased. There has been zero incidences. The pads of my youngest dog are healed up and he no longer needs to wear a cone around his neck to keep him from chewing at them. They have ENERGY, they are healthy and it is like a total miracle! I can't say enough about the quality of this dog food, but it has literally changed the way my dogs act, feel and look. I HIGHLY recommend this dog food to anyone who may have similar circumstances. I was literally resigned to believe that all Frenchies just threw up and I would have to deal with it. NOT TRUE. This has totally changed our lives and the lives of our dogs.A++++ Keep up the good work Blue Buffalo!
