The perfect tape and here's why.
I have an old Craftsman tape measure that I love. The main reason is that it stays extended until I press the release. Most all other tapes are the opposite and you have to click a lock to get them to stay open and then click the lock to close it. Well, my Craftsman tape is nearly 30 years old now and the spring is showing it plus the measurements are difficult to read on the first 6". This Milwaukee tape is better than my Craftsman and is my new goto tape. You can get a nice wide tape with a good hook at the big box stores but here is where this one stands out. First of all, it fits perfectly in my hand and when I'm holding it, all I have to do is apply a little bit of tension with my index finger and the tape stays extended. I don't have to fool with the lock to get it to stay extended or to close. This alone, may be the best feature but it isn't the only feature that sets it apart.Secondly, the tip has a magnet. How does every tape not have this. I can extend the tape to a corner of some metal and the tape sticks. I can put it up against a nail and it sticks.Thirdly, it is printed on both sides. Before, if I needed to mark an exact measurement, I had to role the tape over so the edge was on the surface, all the while I'm holding the case to keep from falling over and twisting the tape and losing my measurement ability. Basically, I needed three hands. With this tape, the hook is on both sides so, I hook the tape so the radius of the tape is facing up. Both edges of the tape now contact the surface of which I'm marking. I don't need three hands and a precise measurement is possible.Fourth, the surface of the tape is covered with nylon. I protects the measurements and cuts glare. Finally, it has an architectural 1/4 scale measurement markings for a foot on the bottom side of the tape. That way, they are there and useful when you need it but not on the most used surface of the tape to make it easy to read a measurement incorrectly.Somebody is going to have to come out with something better for me to change. This is the perfect tape.

solid and sturdy tape measure with nice features
This is a very solid and nice tape measure, it's considerably heavier than I thought it would be, but frankly I like that, gives a feel like its not made of cheap material. The double sided measuring marks on the tape is a nice feature and includes architectural measurement (not that I use it but its a nice feature). I work in a warehouse and keep it on my fork lift at work for the purpose of getting dims and weights for large pallet orders, and measuring shelf heights. The magnetic end is a great feature and has been very useful, I can stick it to the floor of the scale while measuring pallets and the magnet is strong enough to stick as I retract the tape to the appropriate height. One other detail worth mentioning is the tape is very sturdy, it can be retracted as far as 9' before it collapses, which I found to be very impressive. There's also a finger guard to protect your hand as the tape retracts back to you, which also doubles as a way to hold the tape in place while taking measurements.I let a co-worker use it and as soon as he held it he says to me "Damn!, you don't F around do you?" Obviously he was also impressed with the solid build of the tape measure. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is due to the fact that it is listed as buy the tape measure "get this free", "this" looks like a screw driver which needless to say I never received. I have plenty of screw drivers as it is, so that's not a problem, but it boils down to the principality of it, why list it if it's not actually gonna be sent?

BEST TAPE MEASURE EVER!!!!
Long story short, I've had to rebuild my house from the studs out during the last 18 months. I'm a short female nurse...not a contractor. My prior tape measure was something work gave out during some event. It was crap.A friend recommended this guy and LET ME TELL YOU!!! Theres a video explaining all the features of this tape measure! It's insane! I didn't use 1/4 of them personally, because this isn't my profession. But what I LOVE:1 -the magnetic end! So when I'm stretching it long distances by myself (which I did frequently in the last 18 months...I'm single) it easily stuck to a nail or I could even hook it on the end of a piece of wood or something and it would stay. HUUUUGE time saver!2 - the end also has a little opening and I've removed nails with it when I'm too lazy to find a hammer3 - I've opened countless paint cans with that metal end4 - I've also smacked the crap out of it onto paint cans to close them with the tape measure itself, never broke! (I don't think you're supposed to do that, but hey, I'm lazy and this isn't my career so whatever...it still works just fine over a year later! So I'm not a pro, and I don't know how much tape measures typically cost, but this guy has been worth every penny. I'll never need another one again!

Awesome tape, double sided numbers are awesome
Awesome tape, double sided numbers are awesome, great standout for how thin it is. I'm an electrician who uses it all day everyday and I don't think I'd buy a different tape. The magnet is great for when you drop a small screw or nut from the top of a ladder and instead of climbing down you can just retrieve the hardware Spider-Man style. My only complaint is the hook on the end is massive. It takes up the entire first inch and makes it difficult to measure fractions of an inch but still doable.

It's a great tape measure but the bulk on the end causes it to extend only about 9 or 10 feet at a 45 degree angle before snapping despite being a sturdy blade. That being said my dissatisfaction and the 4 star review is because the magnet is comparable to a magnetic bumper sticker and the size of the magnet is grossly unnecessary. The architectural scale isn't as helpful as I had hoped but I can see how in the right conditions it'd be very useful.

Came in the mail quickly but upon opening I realized 2 screws that hold the shell together were missing I'm guessing it was a milwaukee defect because you cannot access that side of the shell without pre packaging or cracking the package it comes with, other than that great product I replaced the screws myself and have been using daily the magnet is quite strong for being that small it's very sturdy very well made
