Enerco F173766 Propane Auto Changeover Two Stage Regulator Clamshell

I've used these for a few years now. I say a few because they really only last about two or three years before they start acting up. I will say that it is not so much this product, as it is auto switch over valves in general. They inherently faultier in one or more areas. I will say that this one is probably the best you can get in this category though. I've owned manual switch overs as well, and would say that they will last you upwards of 15 to 20 years. I use this as a manual one after replacing it twice on my Jayco Eagle, 37 footer. The last one lasted two years before the diaphragm blew out, and I lost a new full 40LB. bottle of propane through the vent hole. Hence the reason for only using them as manual switch overs. To do this, you simply only open one tank at a time, and use the switch over arm as an indicator of empty or full, which accomplishes two things. One, these are known for only emptying about 3/4 of the propane before they switch over, and two, just in case it goes, you don't loose the propane in both tanks. I know that it defeats the purpose of an auto switch over valve to have to go out in the cold and turn on the other tank, but better safe then sorry. One day I will probably just install a manual one, but for now the bracket setup works best for this one, which requires it to be mounted to a flat surface.

Bought this unit to replace a non-working regulator. Liked the green = full tank, red= empty tank feature. Unfortunately the unit sticks on red. Took both tanks out and they seem heavy and full, but took them to refill and both were full. It seems to allow gas through as refrigerator and water heater work fine when dry camping. Wish the green and red indicator worked - spent more money on this unit thinking it was a better product - Well You Do Not Get what you pay for with this unit - beware! I have also read other reviews of this unit with same problem.

I bought this to replace the (OEM 15yr old) propane regulator / tank switch that my Carriage 5th wheel had from new.No more wandering out in the dark rainy nights to switch tanks.No more fighting with rock-hard hoses when changing tanks.No more random slow leaks of that expensive propane.No more fear of a leak that leads to a fire.I'm sure you'll have the same experience.

I have had this for 6 months. This broke with out any interaction or warning. Must have been an internal diaphragm problem as it leaked propane out of the vent. It installed nicely and looked nice and did work adequately. But just failed. I lost valuable propane to the atmosphere.Case is not flimsy but appears to be cast out of some alloy. I wouldn't call it "Sturdy."Of course I need a replacement but won't by this one or the look-alikes even if they are cheaper.

We were happy with this regulator, but on our 4th trip, it failed upon arrival at the campground. we lost 2 cans of propane in 2 days. The seal connecting the two halves leaked, and we could not stop it. Poor quality, given this regulator is designed for RV, which means travel. Somewhere along the way, parts were subbed on this unit, and it failed. Too bad. Goping to purchase another brand.

I’m a full time ever and I purchased one in March 2019 and it did exactly as said. My stove, central heat and water heater started working again better than ever.The down side is it’s January 2020 and it’s quit working. I have to go switch it from tank to tank to get the heater to light so I’m now back shopping for a new one. I’m looking for a different brands this time.

I haven't hook up the item as yet, waiting for the day when the SHTF when or if that day comes I guess I was sold on the idea that it will change over automatically or I may try a test run but not yet

Worked great as a replacement for older type regulator. Comes with bracket to mount to center screw/bar.
