Our new dish washer came with a plug on the end. The old connection is hardwired. Is it safe to cut the plug off and use this box to connect it?

Short answer yes. However, most white goods now come with a factory fitted plug, if you cut the plug off you may invalidate the guarantee. Can you fit a socket onto the hardwired connection then plug into that??
