The classic Roy Orbison was originally released in July of 1966. Perhaps inappropriately named, this, the third album from Roy Orbison's MGM Years, is anything but typical. Orbison breaks all convention with these 12 songs holding steadfastly to his own artistry. `Pantomime' is best described as epic, and notably, the single `Twinkle Toes' charted at #13. This re-issue is fully remixed and remastered to return the audio to its original glory. Package includes fully restored original artwork.

CLASSIC ROY....ONE OF HIS BEST
One of Orbison's under appreciated albums but in my opinion this is one of the best. His voice was in top shape. His vocals are soaring and surging one moment and supple and yearning the next. You can hear the early rock and country influences. The production is amazing and the new edition of remixing and remastering is superb. I loved the cover...no one looked like Orbison or sounded like this. The first song YOU'LL NEVER BE SIXTEEN AGAIN is terrific. The song GROWING UP with a similar theme is also very good. That song acknowledges that when you experience the pain of loss you start to grow up....a life long process. PANTOMIME should have been a big hit. TWINKLE TOES was the one hit on this album...there should have been more. LOSING YOU is an emotional understated ballad. CITY LIFE concerns the allure of the night life. There is so much good Orbison music here to recommend it. There are songs of loss and hurt but also songs of joy and fun.... What struck me about this album when it first came out was how mature it was. It was as if Roy was saying,...we have to accept that life and love are hard.... but there are good times to be had here on this earth....so let's sing and dance and ...."drink another cup (of black coffee...) you're GROWING UP"!.... NEVER LOVE AGAIN, is a beautiful ballad written by the Kershaw brothers finishes this great disc.Roy Orbison sang songs about desire...love and loss. How he conveyed these feelings with that voice was key to his success. We can all identify with that because no one escapes this life without losing....Above all of this music is Roy's powerful, strong as well as tender voice to bring it all home. Any fan of Roy Orbison should appreciate this album.

Brilliant
Fantastic, but then I wouldn't expect Roy to be anything else. I listen to this a lot.

cd review
Solid effort from Roy but missing the magic from all his Monument sides. Hard to put a finger on it as probably the same core of musicians.
