Although I have a camera doorbell, there is a significant lag time when someone rings the doorbell and when the phone app lets us see who is at the door. The door viewer is no-tech solution for seeing who is at the door before you open in. Then if you don't know who it is, you can still talk through the camera doorbell to determine what business the visitor has. The privacy cover was my wife's requirement to prevent someone from looking back in through the viewer.Installation was simple. I determined the proper height for the viewer, then drilled though the door with a small diameter drill bit to make sure I knew where the hole would be on the outside of the door. This allowed me to drill through the fiberglass door skins from both the inside and outside to ensure there would be no splinters (since the drill bit isn't pushing through the outside door skin). The two halves insert through the holes and thread together easily and fit the 1-3/4-inch-thick door perfectly.It works perfectly with a great wide-angle view and acceptable distortion. We are pleased with our heavy-duty door viewer.

This door "peep" viewer looks good and the clarity is pretty good given it's so wide angle. I'm not sure it's 220 degrees though, but it's plenty wide enough. Some people have complained about the logo, but it's hardy visible, in fact if you didn't know it was there you probably wouldn't notice it. When installing it drill a small pilot hole through the door and then use increasingly larger bits to enlarge the hole working from both the front and back of the door until you reach the size you need. This will insure a better hole and prevent chipping of the door finish. It has a nice finish and it fit into the door nicely. I would buy it again if I needed a viewer.

We are using this indoors on our master bedroom door. For security reasons we keep our bedroom door locked at night. A few times we've had an alarm sensor on one of our outside doors fail and give off an alarm. Not knowing whether or not it is a false alarm, we had no way of ascertaining if anyone may have actually broken in without unlocking and opening the door. With this peep hole viewer we can see what's going on outside of our bedroom without unlocking the door. With the wide angle view we can look up and down the hallway outside our bedroom. It installed very easily, and looks very unobtrusive. Despite that fact that it is impossible to look in the other way, the security cover was a plus for my wife. We are VERY happy with this fairly inexpensive door viewer. (HELPFUL HINT - you may need 2 small flat blade type screwdrivers to tighten this during installation - I had a simple solution, a watch case removal tool that had 2 adjustable flat blades that worked perfectly.)

Took me less than 10 minutes to install. Recommends a 14mm hole to install; I used a 5/8" spade bit on my impact drill and it worked just fine. This peephole is made of very solid feeling material and is just 2 pieces screwed together from either side of door. Has very long threads to accommodate many different door thicknesses. Finger tightened together and fits tight with no slop whatsoever. The inner cover feels sturdy and I don't foresee it loosening up as time goes on based on how it's built. Overall, this peephole was an absolute breeze to install, looks incredibly nice, works as it should, and is built to last.

I ordered two of these. One works great but the other I can't see anything. It is all blurry.

This little peep whole is fantastic!! it gives you a nice clear view of your front entrance and anyone that approaches your door, love the privacy cover, and it looks great ! I am very happy with my purchase !!Don't hesitate to buy its a good quality product, and it does the job nicely !!

We bought this because it sometimes takes awhile for our video camera to turn on and we can't see what's happening outside our door right away. It's nice having this extra security measure but it's also nice to look out for my small dog and see when she needs to be let back in. I was a little worried that the lens would be blurry or obscured in some way but it's pretty clear to view through and I have had no issues at all with it. Installation was easy, just needed a big enough drill bit, didn't take much time at all.

Great product, clear view, and great price, what’s not to like...hmmmm...I could do without the GIANT logo on the peep cover.
