The 475PB, with a 1.75" diaphragm, represents the refinement of Radian's design efforts in 1" exit-format compression driver technology.

Smooth, natural sounding driver
I have been quite happy with the 16-ohm version of these for home hi-fi use. The aluminum diaphragm may not be as tough as titanium for PA and sound reinforcement use, but the aluminum doesn't put the "shiny" sound on music that titanium does. In a properly set-up system these rival direct radiators for natural sound, and do not give me listener fatigue even after hours of listening. My measurements using pink noise and 1/6 octave RTA verify the smoothness of the response; with the right horn EQ (about 10dB total correction at 20kHz) I was getting close to +/-1.5dB out to 20kHz on 511B horns. I settled for 8dB EQ, with a bit of downward overall slope for the most realistic sound. We compared these to BMS 4550 drivers, and in my opinion they easily hold their own. The 4550s may have a small edge in detail, but to my ear these have a slightly smoother sound than the 4550s. Minor differences either way, both are excellent sounding drivers. One clear advantage over the 4550s is the Radians don't have a spike in response at 18.5kHz, but respond smoothly to 20kHz.
