I was actually pleased with the attitude and many of the suggestions of this book. The easy-to-read introduction is excellent as it gives clear and direct explanation for the importance of providing surprise and delight for one's wife and doing it in a timely and enthusiastic fashion. It is not scholarly, but it is practical. I think many couples will find that perhaps a third of the suggestions will be well-received in their relationship, another third might be difficult to carry out or not the best fit, and another proportion won't fit, as some are for couples with children or other particular circumstances or they would work best for particular personalities or interests. The author acknowledges this.I was excited when I showed the book to my husband, but he didn't really respond to it or show interest. However, that speaks more to the relationship than to the book. I think I would be surprised and delighted by some of the activities if we tried them.

Superb read really helped me with ideas to improve my marriage.

I haven't really reviewed books before but thought i would write a good one because this book hit the spot of what i was looknig for.I ordered this book a couple weeks ago because my wife and I got into a little argument (nothing too major) and afterwards I figured out she was right. One thing we didn't agree about was that I haven't really been spending the time thinking about her and doing things for her and with her like we did in the early days of our marriage but then that is one of the things that after the argument, I came to understand that she was right. That I HAD stopped doing surprising things or caring things very often, other than on the expected "Big Occassion" (Christmas, Birthday Anniversery) events.What is good about this book or at least what I liked about it is how it points out that lots of guys don't stop doing things because they don't want to do them. It's more like you FORGET or don't remember to do little things when you are rushing around in the usual craziness of life. We dont have kids yet but we still have busy lives so it is great to have an easy kind of guidebook to give you immediate ideas while you're having your lunch break or whatever. It acts like a reminder of things you can/should do, because if it's left to me to think of them... well I never do!I also like the fact that they polled lots of people for their opinions or ratings on which of the ideas work best, or which ones people found to help the most. All the ideas have checkmarks rating them Great or Pretty Good or whatever. It also gives you a quick look at the 'type' of idea each one is, with little pictures for "Do at Home" or "Day Trip" or "Outdoors Idea" or whatever... very clever and very helpful and useable.So all in all I would definitely give this book the thumbs up and encourage it too all men and women as well who are looking for good, quick,fast simple ideas for their lover or partner or wife or husband. 101 Ways to Surprise and delight your wife should required reading for all marriage counselors and people getting engaged or celebrating their 50 year wedding anniversary and everything in between!
