The 2017-2018 Cruising Guide to the Virgin Islands

Guide provided a fantastic overview to the islands and helped us plan out our trip. Was an excellent resource during the actual boating with great pictures of the various anchorages and islands. Only giving it 4 stars due to the nature of hard copy and the post-hurricane status of many of the facilities on the islands. No easy way to keep up with the status of various stores, restaurants, resorts, etc.

We just returned from a trip on St. Thomas (land based) and sailing in the British Virgin Islands. The chart that comes with the book is durable and detailed.The list of waypoints was super easy and handy when I was ready to put them into the GPS.The details of how to enter and depart each harbor was great. The arrows and such helped. I felt really prepared and knowledgeable as I pulled into each anchorage.There's a lot of great information, just about everything you would need or want to know about different islands and anchorages. The information was up to date and very helpful. I was really glad to have had it on our trip!

This is a must for anyone sailing in the US and British Virgin Islands. It is a complete guide to not only sailing, but all the islands activities and amenities. Whether looking for restaurants, provisioning, ice, fuel, shopping, snorkeling, touring, it has it all. Great pictures. And the writing makes you feel like you are already in the islands. Highly recommended.

This would have been a great cruising guide if Irma/Maria hadn't hit in 2017. However, the did. And that makes this cruising guide of little value. Many of the places discussed are no longer in existence or have moved and materially changed. Because this is to be used as a travel resource (and with enormous sympathy to the authors for the unfortunate publication date) I cannot recommend this. I had hoped it would be updated based on the description, but am returning it because it isn't. We will be cruising the BVI in summer 2020, so I am really looking forward to an updated publication. I will certainly purchase it, as the format and depth of coverage in this out-of-date version are excellent and - as far as I can tell - unparalleled.

This is the second book like this. I bought this one to see what had changed after the terrible hurricane. I noticed that they have some old information, for example, where they say Willy T’s is now....

Absolute joy of a book to read and quite informative. We are planning our first trip to the BVI and this book definitely makes planning fun! High quality materials used to make the book. This book is not just for the cruisers but would also be great for land based travelers too, as water taxis are quite accessible to the different islands. 5 Stars!

The bible for the Virgins which explains all places to be and not to be. You can not leave the harbour without this handy book with good maps, great pictures and useful information

A must have for BVI travelers. Jam packed with insights about various destinations to consider in the BVIs. I’d list the guide as a must have in BVI planning and trip execution. A treasure trove of useful information on BVI points of interest.

Great guide however it is not up to date since the hurricane. Disappointing

Best cruising guide for the Virgin Islands, no cruisers should be without this book.

What a great book! When we sailed in the BVI there was still a lot of hurricane damage and this book helped us find our way around, the details having been updated post hurricane. Even if I never sail there again, this is a great holiday memento as I marked all the places we visited!!

Very informative and thorough. Not super up to date as it seems many things have changed since the hurricane. Overall very useful for pilotage and selecting anchorages and marinas with peace of mind
