Great drill bits
The best self centering drill bits on the market! I’ve tried several brands and these are by far the best.

Accurate, very accurate
Super handy for mounting hardware. For example, for a caster with four mounting holes, use the right size Vix bit for one corner, then screw in a mounting screw. Do the same for the hole in the opposite corner, after lining up the caster, of course. Then finish the remaining holes. Only buy these, from Vix- I tried others, and they don't drill an accurately centered pilot hole. My only complaint is it's difficult to find a replacement drill bit if one breaks - they're a bit longer than standard bits.

Hex shank was oversized on all three but easily fixed.
Of course the first thing I did with these is try to put them into my hex drill driver. They didn't fit it because they were too tight. I put a caliper to them and they were slightly over .250", but only on the very end. I measured my Snappy version and it was .245" and fits into the drill nice. Another thing is the VIX didn't lock into the hex chuck. All it took was about 5 strokes on some 220 grit on each of the six sides of the hex shank and it now fit into the hex chuck nicely. Which lead to the next issue of the VIX bit not locking into the chuck. I used a Dremel to mill the indent on the hex a bit deeper and the VIX bit now locked into the chuck.Even though the fix was simple and only took a minute or two for each pc this shouldn't happen. The bits are $13ea where a snappy is $13 for 3 and they all fit and lock properly without adjustment. Before I put any self centering bit into operation I take it apart and apply a small amount of grease to the top and bottom of the springs, washer and base. I've learned over the decades that if you use them to do lots of holes in a row the spring gets hot and loses it's temper and the spring becomes weak. Ever since I started to grease them I no longer have this issue. The operation of the spring shaft is nice. It's very steady and has almost no wobble. The Snappy self centering bits are very sloppy and have a lot of wobble. The VIX bit puts the hole dead center nearly every time. The Snappy's are hit or miss and I have to angle my bit to get it to center properly.I haven't used the VIX enough to see how the drill bits last and clear themselves as I've read in other reviews that they can clog. So far with limited use I'm happy with the operation and the ability to put the hole in the center of the hinge. I was not please that I had to modify the shaft in two different ways to make them fit into my hex chucks.

This is a great tool
This bit forces you to make a hole dead center of the hole in your hinge Weather it’s a piano hinge or a butt hinge They come in various sizes for various size hinge screws. The better the tool the better the outcome of your workmanship

I finally brought these for a project. They work perfectly. I don’t know. Why I waited so long to do so. What a time saver!

Awesome Tool!
This is the first time I've ever used Vix bits but I've tried to do a lot of other things with countersinks and drill bits to replicate what a Vix bit does and these things are amazing. If you've ever bought tools before you can instantly tell the difference between a cheap tool and a well-made tool and these are really nice. Some reviewers claim that the spring is a little too tight but I think it's just right because we're using that spring to hold up the weight of your drill or power screwdriver. The quality of building materials used mean that this tool won't scratch up your hardware that you're trying to countersink. Overall this is great tool worth every penny spent.

AMAZING!!!
These bits are absolutely AMAZING! I don't know how I've went so long with out them. If you are drilling anything that needs to be centered in the hole, these bits are a must have. These are very high quality bits. You won't be disappointed!
