If not for the lowly dung beetle, nature might be a lot less clean. Dung beetles speed up the process of decomposition by using manure as food for their developing larvae. In this program, a dung beetle struggles through the grass to the dung heap, works some of the dung into a ball, and rolls it to a safe location. There, the beetle will lay its eggs in the dung and leave the larvae with plenty of food.

Great Video to Show an Example of Decomposers
Great video to learn about decomposers for fourth grade science. They include vocabulary words that younger students may not be familiar with, and show them at the bottom of the screen along with a definition.
