Interesting. Well written. Witty and the slightest bit snarky. If you like Stephen Fry and/or ties and/or fashion history and commentary, you'll like this book. Marvelous!

Impressing someone important, getting that high powered job, making brunch special or just ending it all at the end of a door handle ties play a very important part in life or the end of it. Look at this chap pictured, he is hunting somewhere in Afghanistan during the 1970s, wouldn’t his outfit be upgraded with a lovely silk tie? Of course it would and Stephen writes the authoritative look at the subject.

I’m sure the book itself is a great read but I bought this as a gift & to open it up and find it in the state it is, is extremely disappointing. Not impressed, not only is it torn (as seen in photo) it is also filthy.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my son in law who has, and wears, an amazing collection of ties - and he likes Fry’s writing. Apparently turned out to be the best ever gift I’d given him over the last 23years or so. What a recommendation for a ‘niche’ book!

It was ok, but feels like a book rushed out with quite disappointing content.
