A business centric overview of Predictive Analytics
A business centric overview of Predictive Analytics. Don't buy this book if you are expecting an in depth explanation of the most popular machine learning algorithms and tools. Do buy this if you want to know how predicitive analytics can be used to solve business problems, how to fit it into your business pipeline, and also for a very high level (but extremely useful) overview of all the algorithms and tools used in the field. Let's be honest, most people don't need to understand the proofs and low level maths that go into all these algorithms unless you want to pursue reasearch in the field. Do you need an understanding of all the low level code and hardware that makes up your phone in order for it to bring value to your life? If you're looking for a primer into this field, you've found the correct book. If you're looking for all the maths and proofs that make predicitive analytics work, you're already fighting an uphill battle by looking for that in a single book.

First impression: this is a major upgrade from the first edition. Over 400 pages of great information, the authors explain all aspects of predictive analytics and data modeling. This is one of the rare books that cover everything you need to know about this fascinating field. The book covers types of data and various aspects of analytics, data preparation, data modeling, algorithms, technologies, and it dives into the realm of big data. It provides solid insights on how to and what to expect. This is a must read by all practitioners and would-be data scientists.

Highly recommended.
This is an all encompassing book about Predictive Analytics, covering all the topics you run into in this field. As a practitioner, I found this book very satisfying; it strikes a balance between in-depth analysis, and broad-ground covering of the relevant topics. The tips dispensed throughout the book were especially helpful. Also, the authors were able to communicate very complex topics relating to modeling aspects, and data preparation with clarity and precision rarely found in specialized books. Highly recommended.

Good, but repetitive
Gives a very high-level overview of analytics and what types are available and what they might be used for. This book gets into types of analysis but not very deeply. It's a high-level view that I found can become very repetitive and cover off on obvious things for pages at length. Good for someone who wants an intro into analytics but not enough to get you doing things on your own.

Terrible! Do not buy
about every 10th page isn't readable. Double printed and page numbers don't even match up. I gave it one star for the quick delivery but otherwise it is useless
