Shot Down and in the Drink: True Stories of RAF and Commonwealth Aircrews Saved from the Sea in WWII

Having flown with FO Dick Christie in a Douglas Boston Mk 111, in January 1943, I was greatly interested in the story of how he was shot down and killed. As an ex Air Gunner who flew mainly in Wellingtons, Lancasters and Lincolns and knew some other people who were shot down, it is an excellent book. I have in fact corresponded with Air Commodore Graham Pitchfork.

Not read yet but looks good. JW

An excellent insight into a neglected aspect of WW2 air war. The anecdotes range from the grim to the inspiring, and the information on the practicalities of rescue is well presented.

Lots of short exciting stories, so you can open the book at any page when you've a few minutes to spare. My wife pinched this to read too.

So well written you feel as if you are with them.
