Like nothing I've ever read before
This was quite a strange but intriguing book. Like nothing I've ever read before. Quite poetic. It might help to understand other types of people a bit better.

Very dated
A JOHN GALSWORTHY novel from well before writing style of the Forsyte Saga. This sort in our times could been written and read in couple of hours.

Dark and Deliciously Mean
I'm glad I found this book. The characters are flawed and unlikeable, but it is written in a way that you want to know what happens to them, whether they will get what they deserve. In a way, it read like a study for the Forsythe Saga. Similar character development.

excellent Galsworthy novel
An outstanding effort by Galsworthy. Quite different from the Forsyte series and other novels of his that I've read. A bit like Hardy's Well Beloved, but more realistic. The 3-episode format was very effective, with some sparkling moments in each part. The free Kindle edition is a good one.

Worth the read
Not Dickens, but who is...very vivid imagery. Characters very clearly mapped. Exciting to read. At times, couldn't put book down. Almost three distinct stories, yet more like vignettes.
