Killian (The Mavericks Book 15)

Like all of her books this has a fantastic storyline . It has intrigue, detail and romance all included . I have most of her books and while they are the same ilk,they are totally different.

Another thoroughly enjoyable read in this series.This time, it is Killian's turn to meet his happily ever after.

Killian is given a mission to retrieve a woman who has had the bad luck to be kidnapped, escape and then get kidnapped again. With a very sketchy SOS, he tracks her from Vancouver to Alaska and then all the intel has stopped. Cisco is a late child for her father and is, therefore, the apple of his eye, however, when she really needed him he wasn't there to believe her and therefore protect her. She is currently on the run from her abusive ex, her last kidnapper is a seasoned negotiator who has seen she is in trouble is planning to auction her to the highest bidder. With all these threads running together Killian is going to have to find the predator in the middle and take him out as without doing that Cisco is never going to ever be safe again.I really enjoyed this story which has lots of layers of bad guys to dig through in order to find the central one and ensure Cisco's safety. There was certainly a lot of depravity, and lack of respect to women in common for these bad guys. Throughout all of that badness was Killian, proving that he was trustworthy and that there was no way he would ever hurt a woman - in fact, to do so was just an alien concept to him. I loved all the mystery and action in this story as well as the attraction that was completely impossible to deny between both Killian and Cisco. Easy to read and understand, I was completely rooting for them to find the ultimate bad guy in order to get freedom. Killian Nordstrom was to have his old SEAL buddie, Hatch Collar as his backup and Jericho was to be their handler.The Mavericks were a covert black ops team of highly trained military personnel who were able to work without the restraints of the armed forces.Killian's mission was to answer a vague SOS from Chef Stacey Edgewater who had been travelling the world after escaping from her controlling, abusive husband.Stacey's father, a retired New York governor was now worried for his daughter's safety, she had been kidnapped, escaped and kidnapped again but by whom. Sadly her father hadn't believed Stacey when she told him that her husband had been violent toward her, he had old south values where a handshake sealed a deal and a man would never raise a hand to a woman.Stacey was being held to ransom, was it her first kidnappers or someone else ? was it her ex husband who would go to any lengths to retrieve the evidence that Stacey had taken when she had run away, evidence that would put him behind bars for many years.This story follows the tracing and rescue of Stacey, it is action packed, suspense filled, Killian was to put his life on the line to save Stacey and of course The Maverick magic worked it's spell and love blossomed between Stacey and Killion.I love The Maverick series, I love the values that the men live by and the respect for their women. Killian is tasked with finding a kidnap victim and is teamed upwith an old friend, Hatch. They set off to find the daughter of an ex senator who has asked The Mavericks to find her. Stacey has had a rough time of it and as always the journey is never smooth. One disaster after another follows with plenty of action and a side of romance to keep you turning the pages through to the conclusion.
