SCAM! BEWARE FAKE REVIEWS!
I strongly suspect this seller is artificially boosting the rating of this product. My suspicions first arose when I received this tire gauge, unwrapped it, and inspected it...only to discover that there is NOTHING even remotely "high quality" about this tool. This item is the epitome of "Made in China" junk. It's a bunch of cheap injection molded plastic pieces with sloppy seams and tolerances, fastened to even sloppier "stainless steal" parts. This is exactly the kind of quality you'd expect to see at Harbor Freight Tools for about 1/4 of the price. But there are dozens of reviews that claim this tire gauge is a quality product? Something doesn't add up.I then went through every single review and clicked "See all my reviews" and counted the number of reviewers that have never reviewed anything else. That number is 36. In other words, 36 out of 55 reviewers (65%) have reviewed this item and nothing else. To put that in perspective: I did a similar test for 6 other items I've purchased on Amazon, and I couldn't find a single instance of a reviewer who only reviewed that exact item! Also, the reviews on this tire gauge are all suspiciously short and generic. I'm convinced this seller is either reviewing its own products or it's participating in some kind of incentive program (i.e., paying people to create positive reviews).But...maybe you don't care about the seller's alleged unethical business practices; maybe you just want to know about the product itself. If so, I'm afraid I still don't have any good news for you. Like I said before, this product is junk. In fact, I'll go as far as to say this product is DANGEROUS. Why? Well, because it provides a false sense of security. The extra tools provided by this tire gauge are very low quality and there's a strong possibility that they will fail in an emergency situation. For example, the glass breaker has a spring mechanism that has no functional purpose other than to keep the point tucked away when not in use. Some emergency tools have a spring mechanism that fires the tip straight out, allowing you to break a window in a submerged (underwater) vehicle. Let's say, hypothetically, you buy this tire gauge and store it in your glovebox. One day you accidentally drive your car into a lake. It happens. Water fills your cabin and you can't get the door open, so you reach for your trusty "high-quality" tire gauge from Mountain Crest Products. You push the glass breaker up to the window and pull the trigger. Unfortunately, you've mistook this spring mechanism for the kind that actually does something useful. The kind you have is actually just a worthless gimmick. You realize your mistake at the exact moment you drown. In a less-far-fetched scenario, imagine you simply need to break a window. No water involved. Well, first you'll need to pull the trigger on the spring mechanism--you know...to activate "glass breaking mode". Then you grasp this thing with a freakin' tire pressure gauge driving itself straight into your palm. Alternatively, you can grip above that, but at that point you're not swinging a hammer anymore; you're basically using a pointy fist pack. I'm pretty sure I can duplicate that functionality with a key ring and a roll of quarters. At least my version is all metal. The tire gauge version has the point held in place with plastic. Here's another scenario: your car is on fire and you need to cut through a seat belt. If you have both hands free, you've memorized the position of the "seat-belt cutter" tool, and your fingernails are exceptionally long and made of titanium...then don't worry, you'll be fine. If not, you'll burn to death. Both screwdrivers and the "pliers" are smooth and rounded, due to their construction methods, and this makes them terrible at performing their intended functions. If you love stripping screws and nuts, you're in for a treat. Using the pliers, I was able to remove a staple from cardboard...barely. If you have a single sheet of paper that needs cutting, the included scissors are perfect. I also tested the flashlight. It paled in comparison to my phone's flash, so it's doubtful I'd ever use it.Last but not least, there's the pressure gauge itself. Is it accurate? I don't know; I never tested it. Frankly, I don't care. I was duped into buying a swiss army knife of cheap, useless gimmicks, and that's more than enough reason to return this thing.

Over-hyped under-performance
*Below is my response to the manufacturer of this product after I returned it, in reply to his just below that.September 24, 2014Bob Adams:Thanks for your concern about my satisfaction. Here are some reasons you didn't achieve it.1. Of all the tools in the handle the most difficult one by far to remove is the only one you'd need in an emergency such as finding yourself under water, which is the seat-belt knife. The only way I could figure out how to to deploy it was to deploy all the other tools first, and even then it was a struggle. This is poor design.2. Besides, I'd rather cut through a seat belt with a smooth-edged blade than a toothed one designed principally to saw through small tree branches. Although I didn't test it because I don't have any spare seat belts lying around, my guess based on having used both types of edge many times is that the saw blade would instantly get caught up in the fabric of the belt and bind, making a cut quite difficult indeed. If you need to cut your lap belt you could place a smooth-edged blade under the fabric and simply pull up and forward in a single motion, which you obviously can't do with a saw blade, which requires, um, a sawing motion. This is poor design. Also, I wonder how often people need to cut through their seat belts anyway. I'd be curious to know whether you have any data on that.3. As far as the tire gauge itself is concerned, after you've taken a reading you have to cycle through several presses of the on/off button -- and read some very tiny type to know when to stop -- before you can take a second reading right away. This is poor design. This was the killer problem for me, since I bought the product only as a tire gauge.4. The video you recommend in the literature you enclose was a waste of my time.5. That enclosed literature displays an astonishing number and variety of examples of sub-standard English. This doesn't change how good the product itself is, but it leaves customers, at least this one, with less confidence in the company that produced both. For example, in "I see a refund on your order, was something wrong with your Tire Gauge??" you have made at least three mistakes, which is a lot in only 14 words. If the literature and any other words you present to the buying public were written by people whose native language is not English, it shows. If not their grade-school teachers should all be ashamed.6. On the Amazon description page you say (capitalizing every word for some reason), "You'll Feel The Difference In The Drive And In Your Gas Consumption Instantly." This is a ludicrous claim for several reasons, but even if it were all true it's a claim about keeping one's tires at the recommended pressure, not about your tire gauge. As I see it you have over-hyped under-performance, and I will think longer next time I consider buying a Mountain Crest product.--My Fake Name*UPDATE OF SEPTEMBER 25, 2014, to all readersAs of this writing there are 77 five-star ratings and 5 four-star ratings, no three- or two-star ratings, and 3 one-star ratings. Considering what a poorly designed product this is, I find it nearly incredible that all the five-star ratings are legitimate. While I don't agree with every complaint raised by the Amazon reviewer named Intelligent Reviewer, he or she has presented evidence to believe some of the reviews are biased in favor of the manufacturer.I based much of my decision to buy this product on the average rating, and I now regret that.Amazon did made returning the product and getting a full refund easy and free except for the cost in my time.-- MFN===============-----Original Message-----From: Mountain Crest Products - Amazon MarketplaceSent: Tuesday, September 23, 2014 5:39 PMTo: [My Fake Name]Subject: Refund information from Amazon seller Mountain Crest Products1 of Mountain Crest Products PREMIUM Digital Tire Gauge- 10 Tools In 1- For Trucks, Cars and Bikes- Its Accurate, Sturdy and Compact- 100% Money Back Guara------------- Begin message -------------Dear [My Fake Name],At Mountain Crest Products we are committed to our customer satisfaction. Looks good. Better than the last one.
I was a bit skeptical to buy this product as a similar product of different brand that I bought earlier was of a very poor quality and did not last more than 4 months. I had to buy a new one and was skeptical when ordering this one. Though it is too early to write a review about this one, I would still like to write about it's first impression.First of all, this build quality is way better (though not excellent) than the one I bought earlier. The digital meter works good. It has got an LED to light up in dark hours. Though not powerful but still works good. It also has got a seat belt cutter and a window breaker useful during emergencies. The cutter looks sharp but could not try it so not sure. It also has got a bunch of other swiss knife style tools which I believe are not so useful.Overall, the product looks good. My expectation was to have a good pressure gauge with a seat belt cutter and a window breaker all in one and this one seems to meet my expectations. Need to see how it fares on a long term use. May be will revisit the review after a year.
