Absolutely unique!
Decided to try this tea, in spite of its price tag, after hearing Ina Garten say she preferred it to English Breakfast tea, which is my usual favorite. I have to say, Ina is right, as usual. This is like no tea I have every had. I could enjoy it just for the fragrance in the tin! As others have said, the flavor is hard to describe, but to my palate, it seems to have distinct notes of chocolate. It's sweet, but not too sweet. With or without milk (or cream, which I prefer) it is my new favorite. The only criticism I might have is that the tin was dented, but I was able to push that out without having it show too much. "Try it. You'll like it!"

Super special tea
A trusted tea connoisseur friend of mine told me this was a long time favorite so I really wanted to try it. The price tag made me wonder if it was that variable it but I can tell you it’s worth every penny! This might be the best tea I’ve ever had! Its flavor is so complex and fresh. There are floral notes which sometimes put me off, but it’s perfectly balanced with good black tea taste. It’s a taste I’ve never experienced in tea before. I asked my friend what made this tea different from other breakfast teas and he couldn’t explain it. I can understand! The taste is special to this blend, quite unlike other teas.I usually drink teas that aren’t blends like Ceylon, Assam, or Yunnan. Normally I wouldn’t consider a blend to be as good as these teas but this is, although it’s entirely different. I think that’s why I like it so much. I’ve had a lot of different teas but this is a new flavor for me.As someone said, it’s very strong so you can use less than you normally would with black tea which is great since it’s so expensive.I drink this as a special treat, for times when I really want to sit and pay attention to the tea.I was so impressed that I shelled out for their Earl Grey. I’m always searching for a better one so I’m hoping this one will satisfy me.I highly recommend this tea if you’re looking for a next level tea experience that you’re willing to pay a premium for.

Fresh/tin with inner seal/bright flavor
French Breakfast Tea/100 g tinThe tin which I received had a pull-tab metal seal. The tea is fresh. I would recommend the tin of loose tea, as a preference to the box, as this type of tea should be kept safe from air and light, from the time of preparation for distribution.I have awarded five stars for the taste, though I must add that the taste is not what I expected from reading descriptions of this blended tea. French Breakfast Tea is described as "malt with hints of chocolate." I have experienced this tea as flavorful, with some hint of citrus, which is probably from the Ceylon component, of this blended tea. Ceylon tea is what Lipton's pretends to be...with woeful results. This French Breakfast Tea has a genuine Ceylon taste. I would say that it is balanced (nicely) with Asam, and maybe a third type of tea. As my experience, this tea is bright and bold like Ceylon, and not malt flavored like Asam.I steeped this tea (loose in a pan and not packed in a tea ball) for just 3 minutes. I think that steepedlonger this tea would be ruined. Over steeping (beyond 3.5 minutes) is the way to get bitter tea which makes your teeth hurt. If you want a stronger cup, use more tea with the same amount of water. Don't think that 5 to 6 minutes of steeping will produce anything that tastes better than tobacco juice. If you want really strong tea with the nice taste preserved, do what Arabian tea drinkers do: Steep the leaves for three minutes, strain out the leaves, then boil the strained tea down to concentrate the flavor.I have awarded five stars with no hesitation. This French Breakfast Tea has a lovely, refined taste. Prepared properly there is no unpleasant "edge". The taste is what I call "well-rounded and balanced". Totally enjoyable. Easily worth a bit of extra money.

The best tea. THE BEST TEA.
I bought this once on a trip to France about 15 years ago and I never forgot about it. I had it on my Amazon wish list and recently -- finally -- someone bought me another canister. The flavor is intoxicating, kind of like chocolate and vanilla. I've since gifted one as well.
